I live here. I'm Canadian so we have no military here... I've been a teacher here since 2006. This is my wife's home, so we will be here for a while (though not forever.)

I'll throw my vote in for a Sport.

Don't get me wrong, I have a Rubicon and I love it. I would never go back and change that decision. If you can afford it, I completely recommend it without reservation.

However; I think most people underestimate the capabilities of the Sport and Sahara. With a 2" lift of any sort and some 33" mudders or good ATs, a sport is very capable with the electronic BLDs, and a quick disconnect for the swaybar is fast and cheap.

You may run into some issues when building it to your comfort specifications though. I found ordering a Sport or Sahara with everything I wanted brought me up to almost Rubicon levels of pricing. I paid a 5k premium for my Rubi compared to a similarly equipped Sahara.

As promised, here are pics of the new ride. The salesman screwed up and ordered Dune instead of Amp'd but I actually like the Dune even more now!

some of us do need a rubicon. I am a geologist I work off road a lot of times alone. In lesser vehicles I have gotten stuck and had to go get help to get out or dig my self out way after dark, in areas where cell reception is not so good. That being said a winch can make u for a lot of gears and lockers but there is risk there too battery oh yeah well get dual batteries so now you have a jeep with a winch and dual batteries... hmm just complete the package and the rubi. if you use it its worth it. and think of it this way its a tool for travel the same a quality wrench set is for work or a long travel dirt bike, do we really need 14 inches of travel? well we got along without it for along time. If you don't plan on and Then don't actually do much more than grade fire roads your fine but one day comes along and you start down a fire road about 10 miles in it rougher a few more miles rougher and steeper. NOw your in for an adventure, which is why ( I presume you bought a jeep in the first place) or may be it starts to rain then snow and the trail becomes muck or well I am rambling but you get my drift.. The people who don't need rubicons are the soccer moms I see driving around here in lifted rubis fully geared out. but wait maybe they are actually interpid adventurers.... you never know.

Hopefully we will see that CRD badge in the USA.....may be the one vehicle that gets me out of the WK CRD. Or maybe I will keep both!
