OBI Dweller Review and Discussion

I used the opening over the Bed . It was a larger hole then the a/c had to add some material to make hole smaller. I have pulled the trailer about 1500 miles with no issues with A/C moving believe me i have checked it often. My research i found the roof will hold 600 lbs the a/c was less than a 100 lbs
Good to know. How did you wire the Roof a/c ? What was your wiring path ? You probably do not care but, Obi would probably not cover any roof warranty issues. Obi, has a great way of looking for reasons, not to cover issues, related to warranty work. Can you send pics of your roof top a/c installation please ? I was told by Obi directly that roof will easily hold 2 grown adults walking on it. While roof is extended, it was around 100lbs.

Thx !

Does anyone know the wire gauge that runs off of the batteries in a D13 ?

Also, can I connect three negative wires from three batteries to the negative terminal on one end of a smart shunt and connect the other three three negative wires to the other terminal on the smart shunt and run those three wires to the bus ?

Yes. I did this last fall. Worked fine. It's either 4awg or 6awg.

Since Obi, is such a pain to deal with, here are a couple sites that might be able to help out with finding parts.

I noticed something recently with my outlet on the dweller. The outlet is rated for copper wiring only and the wiring is aluminum. The different metals can cause corrosion, leading to loose connections. It's probably nothing, but who knows. You would think Obi would be on top of that. housing quit using copper in the 70's because of potential fire issues.
Maybe it does not matter. I know in my construction world, you cannot mix metals unless you have specific connectors for that particular application. The dweller outlet specifically says copper wiring.

I experienced the same. I used white gorilla tape to keep it out of the way.

Did you rip it off like us? I still need to contact the rv place we got it from to see about getting a replacement

Electrical noob here…

Is the plug on the front of the camper by the hitch an Anderson plug or some(?) other type of plug ?
Also, is this plug wired directly to the batteries ?

The red plug at the front of the rig is NOT an anderson, but a chinese knock off that doesn't fit an anderson. The pins will fit in an anderson plug if you can get them out. I was able to. The plug is electrically connected to a 50amp circuit breaker under the bed (see pic). And yes, it is connected to the 12VDC battery bus. I use the plug to connect an additional remote solar panel. Battery Connector 30A Quick Connect Battery Modular Power Connectors Quick Disconnect (10)

You can find them on Amazon and Make them up yourself. Super easy, just watch some youtube videos.
I went to our local battery store, and they had all the connections, and showed me how to make them up. I use them for my solar.
