US gallons are not Imperial gallons. US gallons are smaller.

My understanding is that an Imperial gallon, which is what America uses, is 3.8 liters.

A Metric gallon, used in the UK, is 4.5 liters.

(even though Australia is entirely metric, we never use gallons. When we do, it's older people still referring to the gallon from pre-metric days, which is 3.8 liters)

Are the JKR wheels 17" or 18"? My understanding is that the 17" won't fit because of the size of the brakes.

They're from a '12 and are 18's, but good info. Thanks

Rubicon wheels have always been 17" wheels. You can get them to fit if you run a spacer. There have been others who have accomplished this pretty easily. I think you will need at least a 1.25" spacer to get the 17's to fit. I too looked at this but couldn't seem to find as good of a tire selection for what will fit our vehicles as what there is for 18" wheels.

What size are you thinking of running? I am currently trying to decide between 275/65/18 and 265/70/18. This puts it at a 32.1-32.6" diameter. I couldn't seem to quickly find a good tire in this similar diameter the other day when I was looking.

Maybe they're actually Sahara wheels. They're 18", a dime a dozen, and don't require any spacers. I have a set with 255/70-R18 BFG Rugged Terrains and they fit without rubbing under normal use. I won't keep these tires, but I wanted the wheels because they're narrower than stock.

(shown at OR2 height, but they fit fine even at Park height).

Those are Sahara wheels from 2007-2011 I believe. I have been looking at a newer set of Sahara wheels. The Sahara wheels are super cheap and easy to come by. I am not sure I like giving up the 0.5" of wheel width between them and the ORA2 package 18" wheels that are 8" wide. Can't decide, I think the ORA2 wheels look better but the Sahara wheels are cheap. In fact I just found a set of 5, of the ones you have (thanks for the picture btw) for $200 an hour away. Not a bad deal! You happen to have a side profile? I am wondering how they would look on my Summit with the Grey....

That's a great deal. I paid $400 for a set of five, including tires. Unfortunately, the spare does not fit in the spare tire well under the trunk floor. I still am just running the ORA2 wheels (and they do look good); the Saharas are sitting in the garage waiting for a swingout tire carrier. :ylsmoke:

Did you try to deflate the spare and/or remove the plastic bins? This is a concern for me as I would really like to run the spare in the hole for a while.

I removed the bins but the main problem was that the tire was too tall. Deflating it might help, but that kind of defeats the purpose of a spare for me.

Understandable. I was just going to order an ARB pump since I will be airing down anyways. Wouldn't be a huge ordeal. Are you going with the Tire Gate?

I would just keep the factory spare, and use the extra 5th wheel for a 5-tire rotation schedule. The Grand Cherokee's come with a very nice spare tire.

I'm thinking that I may repurpose the underfloor space for an air tank, second battery, etc., and just carry the spare in the rear cargo area or elsewhere. I don't like the Tire Gate as it would preclude me from hauling the rally bike or a dirt bike on a hitch carrier. I'm kind of waiting for some custom rear WK2 bumpers to trickle out for some ideas. But it's low on the priority list and won't happen for a while.

The OEM spare is nice, but I want the circumference of the spare to match the circumference of the other tires in use, at least as close as is feasible. There's a significant difference between the 245/65-R18 spare tire and the 255/70-R18 tires on the Sahara wheels.

I hear you on the bumper options. Kind of hope that by the time I get the sliders, wheels/tires, skids and roof rack that a good rear bumper would be out. Not sure I love the ARB front but it seems to be the only real option right now.

The ARB is growing on me. But it's huge and probably weighs a ton. I'm hoping that maybe when the time and money come, I can convince Aluminess to make something for me.
