There aren't a ton of us around and I have a bad habit of udating these kinds of things, but I figured I'd at least get the basics rounded out since we've had the truck 4 years now.

I'm sure I've forgotten a good bit, but that's the jist of it. I've got a few repairs to make to the body over the last few years of travel for this years trips (broken passenger mirror, damaged driver door, and crushed rear hatch) along with some other maintenance.

I'll also post photos later tonight.

Love the 1st gen Sequoias. High on my list to get and build. I really like what you've done so far with yours.

A couple of questions:
1.) How are you liking the 37's and 4.88 gears? I'm looking at upping to at least 35's on my 1G Tundra and am not opposed to 37's. But need to figure out what gearing to shoot for. Currently running stock 3.91 on 33's....runs fine but not a lot of torque. Was considering 4.56 for 35's but would be too low for 37's.
2.) How much modification did you make on the firewall for 37's?
3.) Liking the Solo long travel kit? Again considering moving up from mid travel to long travel. Any issues fitting on tight trails with the wide stance? Dedicated 4x4 trails in the NW are pretty tight.
4.) What tablet mount are you using?

Love the rig!

What would you say have been the best mods done to it so far?
Sorry for the super late reply, been quite busy.

Since we dispersed camp pretty much without exception the fridge has been #1 by far followed up with a proper aux power system.

Second would easily be the CDL switch and lockers.

Third fitting 35”+ tires and letting the truck do the work with less skinny pedal.

1) the 37s and 4.88 put it at about stock gearing. This is fine but you do feel a bit underpowered and need to watch trans temps. We’re about to install an even larger Derale 10000 cooler to get temps where I’d prefer them: 135-150 at all times.

2) lots to the front and rear. Still some teething issues and could use having the control arm moved an inch or so forward to help. Waiting on Solo to finish their newer design LT LCAs.

3) I’ve loved it, but badly need to match the rears and get all the shocks tuned to the weight of the truck. If you plan to do lowers and uppers it’s worth doing. Takes a little getting used to driving on highways but still feels great.

4) RAM Mounts makes one. I’ve enjoyed it greatly as has the wife on longer trips.

Few minorish updates. We ended up going back to a RTT as we camped and went out the least in years using the ground tent. I’d have preferred to have saved the weight but the pros of a good RTT were to worth it to us and our style of camping. Went with the new Alucab 3R and couldn’t be happier (one of the less weighty options too).

Also managed to get the Total Chaos lower ball joint heim kit with double sheer heim steering. This has been a big one and has really taken up all the slop in the steering when also paired with the 333 rack mount.

We’re prepping for our big trip out to Colorado later this year and have quite a bit more to do. Managed to rework the A/C system so far, but have new fenders, truck respray, interior cleanup/remodel, and solar panels to add, as well as some diagnosis of the front locker (stopped working) and some other maintenance to be performed.

Prepping the truck for the next 6+ years of off-roading.
First step, removing the interior for a super deep clean, removal of unnecessary items (rear seat belts etc…), as well as getting the wiring laid out more cleanly. Got the interior removed minus the headliner (next weekend) and went ahead with a deep shampoo of the carpets. Didn’t get every stain out, but got a lot of nasty that had built up over the last 23 years. Also found out that both rear speakers were blown and had been unplugged so…guess I’m getting all new speakers for the truck now as well. With everything removed I’ll also plan to replace the body mount bushings, probably need to hit up JoeJoe for that one.
Waiting for the new fenders to arrive so I can start prepping those, and when the headliner comes out I can start the sound deadening, installing the solar panels, wiring for them and the AluCab, and also run the wires for the new WolfBox rear camera. Got lots of work and 6 weeks left to do with more work.
