On Board Toilet

I've been off roading for most of my adult life and as years go by , so does private physical problems.

I just came home from wheeling in WVa and have come to realize that tenting isn't realistic anymore. I have private matters going on that brings me to have bathroom visits at unexpected times without elaborating.

I'd like to build a tear drop on a slightly bigger scale that I can add an on board toilet and a sink.

Has anyone seena plan for such a rig ? Any ideas ? has anyone here built one ?

I'm not ready to give up the hobby / sport yet but I do need phycilities due to health problems.

I have not personally seen anything that will give you as fast access as a standard trailer/camper.

My best advice is to get one of those and mod it for offroad. Though I hear that's easier said than done.

At various times in organized campgrounds, I've brought a port-a-potti or a PETT toilet into the tent. Keeps critters out of the facilities, avoids the tell-tale zipper noise, but it all depends on the number and nature of the folks sharing the tent with you.

As nice at that would be, I seriously doubt there will be a "built in" privy. Having a Kamparoo, the design the new AT trailer is based on, there is no build in method that is really doable, especially if you want it inside.

What we have done is to setup the PETT inside on the hard floor, so it can be used without going outside the unit. Not the best solution but a solution none the less.

I would love to see AT pull it off. :cow:

This is the kind of thing we are looking at with Disabled Explorers...
As our population here in the USA ages more and more folks are going to be looking for solutions like this...
Not to mention the women and kids factor...not being sexist or age-ist...just reality.

Having said all that I have not found a solution I like better than either setting up the PETT in a shower privy or ground tent. Not a fast solution if the break is needed during the day.

I have thought about mod'ing up a side awning that had side skirts that were perm and would drop down quickly to make a side room for such a quick trailside break.

If anyone finds a trailer that fits this need please post up as I am sure there are lots of interested folks.

One option my wife and i use in a quick-up privacy curtain is the lugable loo idea with the powder that turns liquids and waste to an inert gel (we use the powder from reliance)...put it in a biodegradagle bag and despose of it. We keep buckets in the back of the TACO cuz we rock hound and gold pan, so getting the clip-on toilet seat was a simple solution.

My XV-JP has an integrated flush toilet with separate cassette. At first I thought it would only be to Stephanie's benefit, but after the first 4:00 am pee in a heated, easily accessed toilet without having to put my boots on, I am sold too...
