onboard power supply option for AEV 2018 Ram Diesel?

I Just got my new beast from AEV and working it all out. There are plenty of dual battery threads but diesels already have two batteries. Do I just treat it as one and build up a "duel" battery system around it? I will be using power for a dometic fridge, water pump, lighting and such. I would love to be able to charge the system on solar as well.
I'm new here so any help would be great!

The dual batteries on the 6.7l Cummins Rams are for starting the engine. I'd imagine you'll be fine to use those for running accessories while the engine is on (lights, winch, air compressor).

If you plan on adding lots of accessories that will constantly be running (even with the engine off), I'd look into getting an auxiliary battery setup that is isolated from the two primary batteries.

Yes. Run a third independent battery with isolation during engine off periods. The winch I would run on the two main batteries, everything else can be on the switched/isolated one.

You'll need a third battery.

How do you plan to mount everything in the bed?

I need to figure this out a well for the Power Wagon as well, it will certainly need a bigger alternator.

I purchased the dual altenator option with mine. It was ordered with dual 220's with a 440 max rating. Spec'd it for this exact scenario.

Ram makes a dual alternator add on option. I think it's 2 185s.

Oh nice. I didn't know you could fit 2 of the 220s. I thought only one would work. That's great to know. I'll have to make that conversation here soon.

I want to put the third battery tucked underneath on the frame rail. there is a ton of unused real estate down there. I will bolt or weld a tray and box in. im putting it under the right passenger seat area. I wont rip it off if I high side and it won't be in the way.

For some reason it only shows the PW wit a dual alternator option of 380amps (220+160) so it doesn't appear that dual 220's is an option on the 6.4L gasser.

I'll see about going with a bigger aftermarket alternator for the truck and a deep cycle for the starter and winch and then an alternate battery for my fridge and lights/accessories. I like the idea of mounting it along the frame rail somewhere.

A popular spot is in the spare tire location. A 35" will fit but once you go 37" you have to go with other methods to carry a full size spare leaving some prime real estate ready for mods.

I was thinking about making a dual battery mount plate with a box on each side for the batteries with a hole in the middle similar to the spare and using the spare tire pulley to lift it into place for trips. Then wiring a 7 pin trailer plug to feed both batteries from the existing +12v accessory wire in the plug.

I am all about modifications that are not permanent. Excited to see which route you go!

Welcome BTW!

That's the only place to put a spare fuel tank though. Titans Aux tank holds 30 more gallons there doubling the trucks capacity.

I'd be leery of mounting a spare battery under the truck. I might consider finding a couple of smaller lithium ion batteries and mounting them behind the back seats or under the back seats.

Yeah! mine was built with the Snowplow option that automatically boosts the alternator... There is a ready made frame rail kit for a battery and box that looks really nice but its like $270.00 i think a Home Depot Husky tool box reinforced and bolted/Welded will do the trick!
