You're smart. A better wheeler doesn't exist. Mine's just cushy.

OK...well, my wife wants "cushy" now too...hence my interest in this thread.

She wants the 200 with some "add-ons" TBD (she doesn't want it to look "soccer mom'ish" . Of course, I probably want more add-ons than her, but it will be her daily driver so, whadya do?

As of right now, we have decided to wait and see if the rumors of the 4.5L twin-tubo diesel being available in 2010 are true. If so, we jump in.

Have you driven the 5.7L yet? I cannot believe giving the 5.7L up for any other motor.

I've only driven it in the Tundra. I STILL HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE 200 :( I can only imagine how well that 5.7 would pull a Twundy. Brother's Tundra isn't doing as well as advertised on mileage though...

Yep, we test drove one a couple of months ago...all I can say is smoooooooooth......:rally_guys:

But the lure of diesel is always there, especially if someday (years down the road) the 200 becomes my toy and is what goes with us to Oz for a tour across the continent. Always lookin ahead...

Don't need to.

The accelleration numbers are far slower
They stink some
They are noisier

No thanks for me

Then buy a Cayenne Turbo. I'd give up an acceleration number any day of the week for the low end torque that only a diesel can provide. Besides, I don't find myself stomping on the skinny pedal every time I want to get going. I find little interest in racing slammed Civic Si's.

Now that makes a lot of sense. :cow:

As does the 0-60 number of an off-roading SUV that we are discussing here regarding its use as an "expedition" vehicle.

Sorry to assist in getting this thread off topic. Maybe we should get back to the relevant issues (i.e. discussing the 200 for off-road use).

I think it comes down to needs. Personnally, a 100 series is to big for a lot of the trails I frequent. So the even larger 200 is not going to fly, at least not at this point in my life. Personnally though, I am going to wait a few years until there are a few 200s with over 100k and it has had a chance to prove itself then I will make opinions, but even then they will be based on others experiences. That has lead me astray in recent times with the newer tacos. They seem like good trucks, just not my thing. I went through the same thing with 100's. They are good vehicles, but that doesn't mean they work for me.

We need an expo member to get one of these and test it out. That is what stinks about this thread, at least to my knowledge, no who has posted has one.

If you go over to Mud there is a 200 section and there are a handful (2 or 3) that are being built up. dtt255 is the guy that is posting a lot of the mods he's been doing.

Slee Offroad has done a full build for a customer, but I can't remember where the thread for it is (it's over on Mud as well).

Hello all! This is my first post on Expedition Portal so please be kind. I have been reading this thread and thought it might be time to have someone who has a 2008 LC200 chime in. I do use this rig for everything from light expedition, wheelin and daily driving, and after owning 25+ cars, I am done. This is the one car I have owned that actually meets all needs, and meets them well.

I haven't done as much as some to the vehicle, but I am on my way.

To date, here is the list (in chronological order)
Rear Window Tint
3M Bumper and Hood protection
3rd Row Delete
Nitto Terra Grapplers (stock size)
Custom Radflo Coilover with Remote Resevoir front suspension
Total Chaos Upper Control Arms
TRD 17" Forged off road Rims
33" BFG ATs
KC Light Bar
PIAA 520 ATP Driving Lights

I also have a box (winter) and basket (summer) for the top, and an Engel (for all trips).

On order:
Custom rear shocks - Radflo
OME Heavy Springs
PIAA 520 Floods

In production at the shop:
Sliders

I'm thinking about tackling a proper roof rack (during the cold winter months) and possibly an ARB front bumper (I've had about 5 or 6 vehicles that could of had one, but never bit the bullet).

Here is a link of my last Saturday outing:

Cheers!

Like my Canadian Counterpart, Chimyz, I have been building up my 200 series and documenting all the mods on the ih8mud.com 200 series forums.

I don't want to report everything on all forums but would invite you all to see how the 200 series is progressing upwards.
