Our mini....

2 days down the drain!

Well, decided to pull the trigger on the false floor beds before the 5 week trip. I shocked myself that they came out half decent! Very comfy! No loss of real space, if anything it brought the dogs higher off the floor to cram their noses through the tilt windows! I can remove the entire setup in 2 minutes if i ever need the cargo space. Of course she's now a two seat rig.

About $160 in materials (or one night in a nice hotel!)
1400 staples! (overkill i'm sure!)

The only drawback is I have enough leftover plywood & carpet, I am feeling compelled to redo my wire rack setup with cabinets... hmm.

Sweeeeet!

I know they'd all like to see the pics showing the "sleeper to couch" option.

Uh, oh yeah, and the lift.

Your van is looking sweet, my friend.:bike_rider:

Thanks for the cool words Tlow! The groovy part of that whole bed/couch contraption is I can remove it by myself in under 2 minutes if the cargo area is needed, same for the tank for that matter!

Wow, this is looking great! We used to take my aunt's astro camping, and always loved the more than ample room it provided (even though we tent camped!) but never appreciated it's capabilities... I always thought they were just oversized mini-vans until i found this forum!

Thanks bleak! I thought the same thing until we bought this a few years ago for a long road trip. The two best things about astro's is the fact that they are so unoticed by the masses, which keeps them cheap, and that there are TONS of used vans & parts around! I had set out trying to make a more affordable sportsmobile, and the asto/safari as it turns out is the perfect platform!

Needless to say I'm a fan!

I see you're a jeep guy, I am in my heart still more a jeeper than a van'r myself! I've built 2 TJ's & 1 Xj to date, sold all of them sadly. Next jeep will be an old CJ & that will be for keeps!:smiley_drive:

Got pics of your rigs?

Yep, sure do!

The Wrangler (I've since put a hard-top on) and the miata (not exactly an expo vehicle!)

...and the Jeep Cherokee:

I've been looking for an old CJ2a, 3a, or M38 to "restore" and play with... but not been having much luck. I had found a CJ2a two weeks before I deployed, but couldn't justify spending $1000 on it, and then spending another $1200 to store it while in Iraq, though now I wish I had!
