I originally used the 'contact us' form on their website. They have been extremely responsive to email.

For all of you guys with Fj Cruisers, Man-A-Fre has had tank options in CONUS for years. I put one in my father's TT FJ. There should be pics in the build thread somewhere in here.

Man-A-Fre was the US distributor for Long Range before Outback Proven took over their inventory and the US market. With OP out of the picture I'm not sure Man-A-Fre has access/interest to Long Range at this point.

Why don't we approach ARBUSA about getting a few on the next crate over here?

They have been approached. ARB Aus is a major retailer of Long Range and at one time they import some numbers to the US market. I spoke with the ARB US Pres and my sales rep about this in person when the OP news was fresh. It does warrant a follow-up and I'll do just that. However, ARB Aus distributes a wide array of products in other markets that they simply can't accommodate here in the US for a variety of reasons, it's not as simple as putting them on a container and shipping them over. Liability, warranty, market coverage, etc, etc, etc.

I had assumed he was referring to the Man-A-Fre tanks for the FJ Cruisers, not the LRA tanks. Nevertheless, it was my understanding (info obtained from Ben at Outback Proven before OP shut down), that Man-A-Fre was actually closing their doors, so I assume they wouldn't be expanding.

That is pretty much it, the amount of liability for removing a DOT rated tank then selling and installing an aftermarket tank in a DOT rated vehicle is really not worth the liability and hassle for most US businesses. I think it may have something to do with fuel being explosive and peoples lives and the government, but not sure:)

There is the whole DOT issue. I don't believe for one second that DOT is the end all be all of vehicle safety on the planet so I don't feel too bad about putting Australia's safety standards for carrying gas above DOT. From a legal standpoint, there is an issue. From a practical standpoint, I feel safer having my fuel down between the frame rails rather than in a can hanging off the back of my truck.

I don't agree with the DOT thing one bit and most people don't, but companies have to consider the liability of doing things vs not. I would put a tank in my own vehicle, well not really because external cans work better for the things I do, but I would not want to be in the business of selling and installing them in others. If that makes any sense.

Deposit paid...order started! 6 or so weeks and I should have a new thing to take up room in the garage next to the winch awaiting installation.

$600 AUD. You can google the conversion. It was $468 I believe. The deposit doesn't include shipping. So, you'll owe more than the remaining 50% when the order is done because they'll add shipping at the end. Just FYI.

Too bad you didn't post up sooner! You could have had your tank shipped for free with mine. Anyone else wanting a tank in the NW should jump in and combine the shipping. There is no cost difference for shipping 1 tank vs 2.

I just got it ordered on Tuesday. Maybe we can call them and ask them to put them together?? Split the shipping?

Got it. No biggie. But, yeah, anyone else in the PNW that's interested, PM me and we can chat about it. You have about two weeks before my tank is supposed to be done and ready to ship.

Some sort of lost...
You guys are a bad influence! Timing just isn't right for me unfortunately. I put a deposit on a Tacoma, I need to put a deposit on another item next week, close on a house next week, figure out taxes etc. I was going to buy new furniture too but that is out! And I'm scaling back my initial suspension setup for the truck. I should be broke for a while now.... haha

Yeah, you sound like you're busting at the seams with deposits! Haha, at least it's all for cool stuff.
