I just read through the recent posts on their FB page and can't see anything that indicates the partnership/agreement has been changed or terminated...? Have a link/screenshot?

It's a comment under their post announcing the partnership. Brandon confirms it is terminated.

Found it under the initial announcement post, thanks.

Curious what happened, one can only assume the other company finally did their due diligence and decided to get out before the problems started.

Just looking at the Overkill FB page after reading about the new partnership here and it appears that the agreement has been terminated before production started. I wonder what will happen to the deposits for the new production that isn't going to happen...

I looked at Overkill last year when we were looking to order a small off road trailer to tow with our jeep. Between the spotty communication, huge deposits and people who had paid but had no camper and very little hope of being made whole, it was very easy to move on. I'm glad this thread exists as it likely saved me from moving forward and ignoring the initial 'minor' red flags I felt.
Well that sucks. I'm one that complains the manufacturer/franchise dealer model when it comes to making automobile and RV purchases because I think an option should be for direct to consumer sales but this drama is the type of stuff they give that idea some pause even though there are some great boutique, made to order brands out there.

I fell you on the dealership model, the RV dealer model is broken IMO and not something I want to deal with again having owned 4 campers over the last 15 years.

We really wanted something local-ish and they (overkill) were within a few hours drive. I also looked into Mammoth Overland which looks great but had well over a year wait. We then looked at more traditional teardrop type campers and ended up going with a NW Teardrops Ranger after meeting with them and going over everything we could do. Overall the process was extremely straight forward and the timeline met our needs. The couple that own the company are very genuine and communication was perfect. We ended up with a really cool trailer that has a very high level of craftsmanship and will be great for years to come.

For the NW Teardrop Ranger you ended up going with did you have it built to order and if so what was the buying process like (they require a deposit, build time)?

We built to order. We did an afternoon visit in mid October last year and spent a couple hours talking with them and check out a couple builds in process and looked at and climbed around in their rental units as they made two sizes we were looking at. Deposit was 3500 to hold our place in the build queue and that was for a May 2023 delivery. We talked a few times over the winter finalizing colors and options and we’re pleas surprised that we could move up to March for our delivery. They do require another 3500 when the build starts and the balance was due on delivery. We supplied our own batteries and dropped them off the week before it was completed. We also received some cool build pictures as it progressed. Very pleased with the experience and result. Deposit to pickup was 5 month, actual build time was 2 weeks from start to pickup.

I did my research on lots of trailers, and finally took a drive from Albuquerque up to Silverton, CO, to check out Sasquatch Expedition Trailers. Small company, with only a handful of units on the road so far, but I liked the look. Met with the owners and saw a build in progress. Nice folks - smart. Retired engineers (2 of the owners) - they've made a good build with many excellent design features. It IS expensive, but small production, bespoke, quality products usually are. I feel as though it IS competitive with other fully loaded rigs, partculary with the build materials and weights.

I put a deposit down ($2500) to hold a place in line (production was at least 8 months out). Could have likely gotten a fall 2023 delivery, but with my schedule, I just put myself into a May 2024 one. That's fine, as I can wait. Also gives me some time to research things like awnings, and it lets them do some tweaking based on my requests.

I follow their FB page, which often shows builds, and have been in touch with an owner who is quite satisfied.

Funny how Mission Overland trailers don't have this issue . A business plan to make trailers to sell.
Agreed, I don't also like buying from dealers but I can go on rvtrader right now and find out what dealer has a Mission Overland in stock, options, and how much they want for it.

I know your question was directed to @PNW_PW but I’ll chime in on this too…
My wife and I also ordered a Ranger model from TearDrop NorthWest (TDNW). Our experience was just as PNW said…simple process, minimal up-front money, a wealth of options available, on-time delivery, great communications, and terrific people to deal with.
The build quality and materials used are high, and we can report zero issues after 18 months and multiple trips.
Being local to us, in Salem OR, helped seal the deal for us and I’m very glad we went with them.
Good Luck…

That and you can easily get $5k off the price of an on-lot trailer. The big box RV dealers have more wiggle room when it comes to discounts. With how RV sales have slowed there's definitely an incentive for them to discount trailers they have on inventory.

+1 for someone who is at risk of losing my deposit. I'm planning to sue as well to get on a creditors list. Can anyone who has gone through this please DM me?

I'm a big boy, like everyone else on the forum. There is always a loss risk with everything I deposit or purchase. However, what I don't understand is why Dave decided to ghost his customers and alienate the community. It's a fast spiral downward when you do that. Hard times are rough. I get it. But get support by communicating and working through the challenge. Now, unfortunately, they will be in a death spiral.
