Hi Zecko,
Britpart is based in Europe but sells worldwide. Any Britpart dealer can sell you an IIDTool (Locate a dealer) but, as Dmarchand said, Lucky 8 LLC has them (or will have in the case of the D4).

Please PM me the name you used to submit an inquiry on our site so that I can check what happened.
Thanks,
Steve

Any guesses to the what this tire size might be? Trying to balance the Falken 265/70R18 on the truck vs 265/65R18 from a clearance perpective.

Great build by the way. I'm not far behind with the 18" LR3 wheels bead blasted and going to powder coaters soon.

Great work. As mentioned, I like the black grill and understated modifications. I note the snorkel and will assume your vehicle is a diesel model without the twin airboxes. If you do have the dual air filters/boxes, how did you route for the snorkel? For us with LR4s in the US, we only have access to the V8 model, which now has dual intakes, making the snorkel a challenging consideration.

Lucky 8llc is.

Scott, what mount did you use for the HT antenna? Looks like a Diamond hood mount?
David,

It is a Diamond mount and 2M Diamond antenna. I would have preferred the whip be black, but the stainless actually looks ok on the silver truck.

Edit: sorry for the pathetic attempt at uploading images. . .

While this is about building an expedition LR4, I thought I'd add some information for those wanting to hang onto the stock wheels for long trips, etc.

Because of a pending family trip to the beach, and due to an OEM tire that would not balance (Conti 4x4Contact 255/55/19), I went ahead and dropped some cash on replacing the stock 19s on my 2010 LR4. I shoed up some 255/60R19 Michelin Latitude Tours from Discount Tire.

I couldn't be more pleased as the Conti's were harsh and a nervous mess on the road given bumps and some rain. The 60 profile also added a great degree of comfort as the ride is much, much improved. Also, the 255/55 versions were ~$90 per tire more expensive. The '*** wag' is still there on potholes, but not as pronounced as with the OEMs. Still thinking on that one.

So if you must go with some 19s, you should consider the Michelins.

Looking forward to getting my LR3 wheels finished soon.

So Scott, one rig to settle on and screw everything else... LR3/4 or JK Rubi?

Which one is more the bespoke usable machine versus play thing?

Tactical 4x4 successfully modified the AMK compressor bracket and their LH slider for my 2013 LR4 (or any LR3/4 retrofitted with the updated AMK compressor.) Took some photos yesterday as the parts were being fitted. They also installed the fuel tank skid plate. Their LR3 transfer case plate, however, will need modifications to fit the LR4. Don't order it yet - in case you were thinking about the whole undercarriage protection package.

Nice find. It does provide some improved ground clearance and sidewall height, both desperately needed. That is the interesting bit - these trucks are really effective on the trail, but have such an inappropriate tire/wheel. Anything to gain some better puncture resistance and carcass height is worth the effort/expense.

That is an interesting question, and one that can really only be answered from a purely personal/subjective perspective.

If I could only have one vehicle, it would be a 110 Defender. The only reason I do not have a 110 at the moment is because of the heavy travel I am doing. Once I finish E7, I will buy a 110.

However, saying the 110 is the vehicle I would own if I could only have one truck is really an empty and mostly emotional answer. That is the vehicle I like, despite its flaws. I have come to the point as a traveler that my preference is to drive something I have an emotional attachment to more than some stupid list of specifications.

If the question is, what vehicle would I drive around the world in, if the choice was only a JK Rubicon or an LR4, I am really starting to lean towards the LR4. The breadth of capability with the LR4 is far more impressive the the JKU, but the LR4 is also $20,000 more! The LR4 has more payload, more towing capacity (nearly 4,000 lbs. more), more power (over 100 hp more) and I can sleep inside the LR4 easily, even with a full storage/drawer system. No question, the JKUR is more capable in technical terrain, but the LR4 is completely appropriate, especially as I have prepared this one for anything reasonable you would encounter in long-distance overland travel. We are big fans of the JKUR, and have even given it multiple overland vehicle of the year awards, but if price is no object, I personally prefer the LR4. For most buyers, the JKUR is a better choice and has far more reserve capability and nearly endless aftermarket support.

That is the long answer to a short question ;)

Kaymar Gap

Scott,

I have a question for you on the build. I just ordered the Kaymar bar from Ben at Outback Proven and he said that he recommends a Range Rover mudflap for the rear in order to close the gap by the rear wheel. Did you run into this? I didn't notice anything previously...

I would go with that. We need to solve that problem too.

That rear bumper is one of the best upgrades to the truck so far. I would probably do the rear swing out before I would install the front (if I had to make the choice).

I just ordered the whole underbody set for my 2006 LR3. I am interested in what modifications it will take to use the set on an LR4 when I upgrade :)
