Question about the itinerary,

Would one be able to take the driving and the motorcycle bits?

Is there going to be a package sent out or more of a breakdown about the event?

Just wanted to chime in that Vermont Overland is proud to sponsor and host the October, 2011 Overland Rally and Workshop. As many of you know already, Vermont is chock full of colonial charm where life still very much centers around small village communities interconnected by ancient unmaintained roads dating from the late 1700's. It's an overlanding paradise and VO has already begun planning for this rally/workshop.

Kudos to Scott for dreaming up another great way for overlanders to join forces and share ideas and experiences.

Looking forward to it!!

Got sort of an answer to my question above over in the CA section Hollister thread.

Great stuff is happening with the rallies, and the various regional events are starting to take shape.

The Hollister event is going to be a fun one, with so many types of trails available. It is going to allow the instructors to focus on more technical skills. It is also going to be the resurrection of the Expedition Trophy, and we are even expecting to have a proper teeter-totter as one of the challenges.

Lots of people signed up so far and a solid group of vendors. It is going to be a very enjoyable weekend.

There is rumor of a pig roast ;)

There is rumor of a pig roast ;)

Hollister Hills has a healthy sounder (I just looked up that word) of feral black russian boars. Local legend is that they were released by W.R. Hearst in the area for hunting purposes. These pigs are quite large. I have come quite close to them walking around the campsite at night. While I have never seen them to be aggressive toward people I can tell you that they are not affraid of people at all. I'm sure they have learned that they are safe in the park as there is no hunting allowed inside the park. Every year at SDM we joke that someone should bring a crossbow so we can take one illeaglly and roast it up for the saturday night feast.

Joking aside camping in Hollister is similar to camping in bear country (not quite that bad). The pigs are quite adept at getting into coolers. Food left outside on boxes, coolers etc overnight will be gotten into.

Is there a website to follow the Hollister Hills rally and see some pictures?

There is no internet and limited cell access on site so unfortunately we will not be able to update the site during the event.
But we will post images next week for sure!
