Overlandtowater’s solid axle suburban

I measured about a 5/8" shift of the rear axle towards the passenger side, between at rest wheels on the ground and jacked up / wheels off / axle lowered close to max extension. I used a plumb bob off the outer face of the frame rail directly above the top of the axle tube.

I'm thinking some combination of that and your rear axle stuffed on the left and extended on the right would have shoved the tire right up against that tub liner and shock bolt.

Brake upgrade made a nice improvement, after the break-in

Thanks rayra I measured mine at ride and it's only 1/8th difference, with the driver rear being the 1/8th closer to the frame. Didn't get to extend and see whats going on. After using my harbor freight jackstand for over a year now i guess I better not use them now.

It looks so nice on wood I almost hate to cover it. The drivers side drawer has slides on it but it also rest on the bottom of the cabinet just so when the truck is in motion the slides and drawers sides are not taking all the stress from my toolbag, recovery bag, 20200530_190404.jpg20200530_190411.jpg20200530_190436.jpg20200530_190448.jpg20200530_190500.jpgportable air compressor.

Looking good. How are your holding the outer box in, are you tying to the 3rd row seat brackets?

And your pics remind me of something else I need to take care of - that damned loop handle on the Liftgate. I've banged my head on it laterally more times than I can count. Need to replace it with a soft loop that will bend sideways.

So yes that loop is a pain in the head.

To hold the box down i have some large L bracket that will fasten to the side and bottom of the box and I will use the factory tie downs to hold the rear most half. For the front half I will be installing some flush mount tie downs on the front of the box and will use turn buckles to the rear most seat mount where the seat clips in. There is enough space next to the clippy thing to put a hook beside it.

Got some holes filled an holes drilled the bracets all bent up for the rear most fasteners. The factory bolts are used. I will install the bracket to the box with some short carriage bolts with fender washers on the inside of the box 20200602_225221.jpg20200602_230242.jpg20200602_230250.jpg

Spohn Performance makes a adjustable rear track bar if you need to fine tune the rear end. I have installed it on mine with 1.25 inch wheel spacers and no rubbing from my 285's. I like the drawers.

I overnighted at one of my fishing holes yesterday, didn't get my drawers done beforehand but I wish I would have. I slept good once the people running coons left, those dogs are so loud, also people was running around out there i3can only assumed GRD'n (gravel road drinking) . Full moon and most people didn't have their lights on which made me even more paranoid, I slept with my pew pew on my belly all night.20200606_195556.jpg20200607_055851.jpg20200607_060850.jpg20200607_052029.jpg20200607_060626.jpg

With two coats of the cheap rustoleum bedliner it tough, but i do not like the texture. I wad hoping that sense this was brush on it wild smooth out but i was wrong. It does hold stuff very wel i have a milk crate eith a bunck of fluids in sitting on top ot slid around more than it does on carpet but not as bad as I expected. What I don't like is it catches everything, if you wipe it with a towel it gets all these little fuzzies, touching it with dust hand leaves hand prints all over it20200605_203954.jpg20200605_204118.jpg

I still need to purchase some latches and figure something out for the turnbuckles on the front of the box. The turn buckles I have are too big i cannot tighten down the box with the seat down if I tilt the seats and then tighten them up when I drop the seats back down thy will not latch it catches on the turnbuckles. Whats your thoughts on solving this problem?
At the moment i have a strap around my center tie down to yhe carry handle on the seat, you can see the box flexing in the picture with all the drawers out.20200608_071541.jpg20200608_071533.jpg20200608_071541.jpg20200608_071555.jpg20200608_071950.jpg20200608_072010.jpg

So i had a weird experience today. I left the Dentist office today when i pulled out in traffic it acted like it went into limp mode. No dummy lights, although I did notice the 4wd button was lit up on low range, i came to a stop sign and went on and it did it again both times I was able to power out of the limp mode. I pulled out into the hospital parking lot put it in neutral pushed 2wd i heard a click shut the truck off fired it back up and it acted fine the rest of the hour drive home.

I have noticed the neutral light on the 2wd/4wd/4lo button has been lit a few times in the last week.
