Overlandtowater’s solid axle suburban

I may be wrong but if I remember right you have to have the front cv stub shaft in the hub bearing to keep it from coming apart .
there are keepers on the stub shaft the driver side you can pull with a slide hammer but the passenger side you have to take the housing apart to pull that keeper... but it ejected the drivers stub shaft with the cv still connected that is what was weird and after I reinserted it I couldn't pull it back out. I had the front end tore down before to replace the axle bearing but it appears the driver side is gone again. I will tear it down just so I know what actually happened....so thankful it wasn't in the t-case. Post 121 is where I replace the bearings and seals.

Haha,

I let mine get shredded just like you last year.

And again after I took the wheel off the hub.

Still really impressed how far you can drive these trucks even after a catastrophic failure.

Got the axle out of the truck today man its heavier than I thought....the only thing wrong with it was the previous owner cut the lower bracket for some reason.20210402_202321.jpg20210402_202332.jpg20210402_212313.jpg

Picked up the gt5 rear axle to match the d44 front....less than 100k on it the g80 locks quick by hand which my current one does not. The fluid I dumped out wasn't even black. Pretty happy with it for less than 2 bills.IMG_20210515_171946_958.jpg20210515_190730.jpg

Sorry for lack of updates but I was forced to do a renovation on the house and the price of lumber has eaten all my suburban budget too. Thats the only picture I have that I can upload all others where to big.20210527_215723.jpg

the house is 99% finished, enough to start ordering parts and making other purchases. I picked up a front and rear track bar from someone who is making parts for this swap #tahoverlanding on Instagram he has done this swap on a Tahoe and have had it out for over a year now with no problems other than body damage thanks to the new capability...also in our push to be debt free we decided to down grade or upgrade depending on your thought process we traded a minivan and car payments for a used , debt free high mileage expedition EL that may see some upgrades after the sub is done. 3.jpg4.jpg229847308_473661557205411_7202213801295386317_n(1).jpg Don't worry the burb is going no where.
