With weather getting cooler, I think it means more time spent chilling in bed.

Anyone have good tips for sitting up in bed? I try not to lean against canvas or the boards and I don’t pack a big pile of pillows for obvious reasons.

Why can’t you just lean agains the support boards for the lift hinge? I have the older style that doesn't use the 4wheel camper style black boards, but I just filled it in with Coroplast VHB’d to the hinge structure. We put a few pillows against it and have been leaning on it for 3 years with no problem. Aren’t those newer black boards (assuming that’s what you have) at least as rigid as Coroplast? When I was checking out 4wcampers before getting the Ovrlnd, I test leaned on a few and the 4wcamper folks said they were fine.

We don’t press against the canvas at all.

Probably could. But there’s a piece of angle aluminum that’s not comfortable at all. I’m also a bit concerned with two people doing it. Also, I use small packable camp pillows so it would take multiple to cover it.

But glad to hear others are doing it without issue. I’ll give it a try.

I’m embarrassed to tell you how many pillows we take.😔🤣 I have back and neck issues, so it’s two full size pillows for me, plus I use one of two throw pillows we use for back rests on the bench seat to put under my knees. Then there’s a few more . . .
We just stack them on the bench seat in the camper when driving and toss em on the bed when we pop the top. Not really a problem, but I applaud minimalism!

OK....dumb question since I've not plumbed a propex before....1/4" copper tubing and brass fittings; are these safe together? I dont need to worry about galvanic issues since its gas, correct?

What route did you take?
What are the conditions like on Steele Pass?

Cheers
I just did Death Valley a few weeks ago and took Steele Pass from the Dunes, then up Lippencott, then Hunter Pass, it was fine but like mentioned the Washboard at the top and bottom of Lippencott is more brutal than I've seen out there and I actually broke an OME rear shock eye clean off. I was hoping to go fast enough to "float" over it but there was no floating over that loleureka dunes ovrlnd.jpg

OK....another dumb(obvious?) question....why use copper hard lines for the propex? Why can't I just use 3/8" flexible line for the entirety of the run, from the heater itself, to the QD hull pass through to the dual stage regulator?

Also; some small progress on the Propex install.....drilling holes. To do this, I used an old paper towel roll, with a section cut out, and then wrapped to the correct dimension of the two outlet tubes of the HS2800....cut them to the correct length to where they hit the truck bed body, traced around them with a sharpie, and then pulled the heater off. Found the center point(ish), drill the pilot hole, and then went to town.

As @Martyn once told me, "I may not be good, but at least I'm slow"....when it came to a crown molding project, I succeeded very slowly in getting the holes to line up.

Back when I had a windshield replaced on a former vehicle, I asked the tech for some "black anti rust stuff" and that is what you see here....anti-rust stuff. I cleaned the two holes(that's what she said) and then applied the acid...and then the coating....no clue what they are, but its peace of mind.

It was brutal! I tried going fast a couple times, but ultimately resorted to around 5mph. My truck is heavy and I definitely would’ve broken something

Worst washboards I've experienced were on my way to Bahia Gonzaga about 20 years ago, before the road was paved. Went in my old '91 TLC 80 series, with @articulate and his brother. 50+ miles of washboards that tested all our suspension, only to end up w a wind storm that blew tents off the beach!

I had the same question - had planned to use flexible lines , but have seen most installs use copper hard lines. Are there specific reasons for the hard lines?
