Well I finally got tired of the rear bumper not matching anything so I painted it.

Prep, I removed the bumper and proceeded. I used 350 grit paper and wet sanded my heart out to get a good roughed surface on that dang ever so shiny chrome. I wet it than sanded rinse and repeat.

Paint, Duplicolor sandable automotive primer, paint was rustoleum satin exterior paint. I wasn't impressed with what I found I was looking for a semi gloss but the satin ended up a close match to my arb front bumper.

Hello Aaron,
I like it! Have you given any thought to painting the mud flap area in front of the bumper. It might flow better. :26_7_2:

Yes I thought about it and quickly dismissed it. It would flow all to well and then it would look as if my mudflaps had been eaten by the bumper and would start another project. I would then have to paint my fender flairs F & R satin black. SO Gear stop making more work for me!

In that spirit, how would the whole truck look in satin black!? Or even better, Line-X the whole thing! :D

It's not happening. The flares stay silver to match the trim. As far as the whole thing rhynoed, I saw a new F350 and I was like ****** I hated it. If it was a trail rig only I'd say hell yea and be done with it. But she's my DD trail riggin overlanding exploration vehicle. And as you can tell by me not painting the flares I like the silver not to mention it looks different, and like most here we kinda plot our own course.

Hmmm, I think it'd look better color-matched (silver). Then, of course, paint the front bumper, too... Get to work! :shakin:
