**NOT CONSIDERING COST**

Considering interior volume, exterior size, power draw, and ideal use for 2-3 people for 3-7 days - which fridge do you think would be the "PERFECT" fridge for an Expedition Trailer?
Please explain your choice.

This is going to be one of my first purchases when I get home from deployment. Right now, I'm leaning toward the MT-60 Combination Fridge/Freezer.

The Engel Combi 60 is what we use. It seems small when you first look at it, ... but it holds a butt load of groceries!

I like having Ice and Ice Cream!

Hope that helps.

I have a 45 which is great for two people - but my families now
3 and the extra space for juice-ice- and general baby food means
I now need to upgrade.

The national luna combo looks to be as good and for me a cheaper one to ship
and purchase than the 60 combo.

Both to me would suit, they are a bit big if you are truck only- but with the extra trailer space no probs..

ps my 45 looks small in my Patrol boot

Have you also considered the National Luna combination units?

Wow those are expensive. :Wow1: I think that's more than I spent on my house fridge, and it has an ice maker!

In any case, I think with a trailer, the choice is clear, you can afford the larger size, and split capability sure would be nice.

generally in Australia Engel have a reputation as a good reliable fridge, but with poor insulation and high power consumption.

I will say that a transit bag and/or a good wool blanket makes a huge difference in the amount of cycling for my MT-35 especially on very hot, sunny days (near 100 degrees plus). Otherwise the draw is quite nominal. The larger the unit typically the more it will cycle (and thus use more power).

We have done a considerable amount of side by side testing of portable fridges and have found the Engel to be very good on power consumption (with the exception of the MT40).

I know this goes against the results published by an Australian magazine, and I have no explanation at to why this is.

AT has both the Engel and the National Luna fridges. The Engel is a straight forward, hard working, efficient unit, while the National Luna is all these things plus extremely well crafted, made with exceptional hardware and more informative on the electronic side.

On the 45 vs. the 60, to me the most important consideration is the foot print. The 60 has a larger foot print and depending on the size and shape of your load box you may do better to expand upward with a two zone rather than outward with a 60.

For me the ideal situation is to have two 45's one in the trailer and one in the vehicle. When towing the trailer the fridges can be set at different temperatures. One as a fridge and one as a freezer possibly.

Looking at your trailer it looks like the trailer fridge would have to be accessed through the lid rather than the tailgate, the second fridge would allow you access if someone is sleeping in the tent.

:sombrero: Gotta agree with go4, the MT35 is IDEAL for my wife and I

Of course, not having young kids makes all the diff. in the world

We can just zip-in-out and our cooler is easily manageable and sufficient

Definitely get the MT-60 Combination Fridge/Freezer. I love camping with my fridge but realy wish it had a freezer. I would question hamburger patties that have been in a fridge for 7 days. Plus it sure would be nice to have Ice cream on a warm summer nite.

Yeah - originally I was leaning toward the MT-45 Two-Zone for this reason - go up instead of out. The cargo box of my trailer is only 26" high, and the MT-45 + Two-Zone would be roughly 28" tall. I don't think a single MT-45 would be big enough, and I can't afford 2!

Thanks for all the input so far, though, guys!
