I love the RTT at that level. I wanted a set up like p1michaud's and ew's but I am pretty sure the dogs wouldn't be to happy. I am excited to see how it comes out.
Update on platform build. At first I had contacted Steve at CBI about building the platform, but the more I thought about it the more I realized I wanted to be apart of the process much as I could be.
I decided it would be best to find someone local. Flipping through the phone book I came across Total Offroad Fabrication just a few minutes away from me. When I called him up he seem welcoming and very talkative. Apparently, he had found ExPo not too long ago and had quickly noticed my truck build and location. Fast forward to today when I stopped by his shop. I spent about a half hour at his place talking about ExPo, Overland Experts, Expedition's West, Bruce Elfstrom, the truck, and other stuff. I got great vibes from him and decided to go ahead and have him start the build.
I saw his current build up while I was there. Wait until you guys see this thing:Wow1:
Sorry the topper and rack didn't work out but it looks like everything is back on track and will work out great with the tub-height RTT. Nice looking organic bumper, by the way!
I feel your pain, my family mocks me because I pull my topper on and off every week it seems. I love the look without it (I have the hard ARE cover) but for driving around with my bikes, I prefer locking them under the cap and out of the salt in the winter, then I change my mind and off it comes... repeat several more times...
The materials have been ordered and all this should start the end of next week:wings:
It's going to be a tight squeeze for the tent though. I may have to mount it with the door over the tailgate. That means the swing out will have to be left open. We will see when it comes time to throw it on there.
