Your a few months 2 late. I got a demello tube on my rear end. I am sure it wound take long to go though for someone who does not want to cut their bed sides.

Bumper ETA....beginning of July. June and July will be mod madness time! Total out of pocket expenses, for everything that will be done, including new rack set up, RTT, and bumper comes to $100:victory: I love it when things work out the way you want them to.

Check out this thread if you have not seen it. http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25756

Also, remember its only 3 hours to Vermont or New Hampshire and one can easily take a long weekend trip to Maine where you can get lost for days. I

I'll have to keep tabs on you guys from now on, that training looks like a lot of fun. A good way to share and learn tricks and techniques.

Do you know of any good open trails around southern Vermont? All of the ones I know of are now closed off and gated, even a couple that were open last year.

No, unfortunately I have not been up there since we moved back to CT. I know of places further north, but a lot of unmaintained roads are a bit more hidden on this side of the country. They are there, but not as advertised as out West.

The puzzle pieces have finally started to arrive.

This is a Custom Crosstread Renegade rack.

The good- It came

The bad- With the exception of the fab guy...Terrible customer service. The box was pretty beat up. Not necessarily Crosstread's fault.

IMG_0005.jpg

Here is the problem though. When I got home and picked up the box, nut's and bolts came raining down on my porch. Here is how they were packaged in the box.
IMG_0017.jpg

No bag to be found. It's not the end of the world since these pieces can be picked up at any hardware store, but still. That is more money spent and time wasted.

This won't be install for about two weeks until everything else comes.

Did they at least give you a parts list so you can get any of the hardware that fell out of the box?

I'm checking that out at the moment actually:sombrero: Once I have the date and location for a wrenching party this month. I will post it up.

After taking inventory of all nuts, bolts, etc, I am missing a total of 41 pieces.

Since I had many modifications and general maintenance do to I thought it would be good to get some help. Today, Salsataco, Misses Salsataco aka Tabitha, 7wt, Chasespeed, and Oceangirl helped out.

I would not have been able to do it without them.

It was raining heavily when I awoke. The moment Chasespeed showed up the rain stopped. By mid day it was hot and sunny. While we waited for the others to come we went ahead and started a late 30,000 miles service.

IMG_0016.jpg

Tabitha went ahead and cleaned up the flaking areas on my sliders.
IMG_0021.jpg

While Oceangirl went through and touched them up with some Rust Reformer stuff.
IMG_0025-1.jpg

From here they went ahead and took off the bumper in prepertion for the new one.
IMG_0017-2.jpg

We then went ahead and began the major modification of the day. The new rack system.

I think the truck looks freakin amazing without the canopy. That said, it's not very utilitarian and does not offer a nice dry space for our stuff.

After a bit of work we went ahead and put the canopy back on for a test fitting.

The canopy then came back off and we went ahead with the cutting.

Then the canopy went back on.

The cuts need to be cleaned up a bit later.

IMG_0087.jpg

and the rack was installed.
IMG_0115.jpg

While all this was going on we had to figure out a way to get the oil in the transmission. With a little ingenuity on 7wt's and Salsataco's part they jerry rigged a truck I.V.
IMG_0082.jpg

Its not the prettiest thing in the world, but it's functional since I can not put any weight on the canopy due to what appears to be a design/manufacturer flaw.
IMG_0130.jpg

The last thing of the day since it was getting late was my "new" bumper.

How do you like it? I think CBI is getting a bit lazy lately to tell you the truth.

RTT comes Tuesday.

It was a pretty good day. Good cheeseburgers, a variety of Sam Adams to go around, and plenty of interesting conversations. Thanks everyone!

Chasespeed came up with the ziptie it to the hood mod after he noticed us holding the bottles forever..... And the xtra holes in the "new" bumper makes it go faster. It will be nice to even the rake of that truck out with a heavy bumper and tent. Let me know if the driveline vibes with that much of a change. Mine is touchy like that. Thanks everyone for a fun day.

What do you guys think of cutting these things off...
IMG_0135.jpg

I know that will leave hollow openings, but they are useless to me.
