The snorkel install turned out to be one of the hardest and most time consuming modification's I have done.

Well it looks great and I'm glad you got it sorted out. As I always seem to end up with oddball rides, I feel your pain when it comes to modify a part to fit your ride. Sometimes it's best just to walk away for a time and clear your head and approach the problem again with a more calm demeanor. No matter how much I swear and throw tools, it never really seems to help.

Living in New England and a few feet away from Long Island Sound, rust is an everyday battle. I don't know how well this will work, but I put a bead of RTV along the base plate on the pillar to try to prevent water from working its way in.

I use to use a sheet of gasket material to cut out a gasket just slightly undersized than the part/mount I was installing to keep out the crud and water that causes rust to start. Lately I've been stopping over at a buddies truck cap dealership and getting his left over cap sealing gasket rolls. Most have only a couple of inches to a foot of sealing gasket left, but it works great as a bond breaker/gasket between a hard mount and the sheetmetal of a rig. Plus it's free.

Not bad, I will give that a shot sometime soon. Thanks!

Had a revelation the other day and after thinking about it over several sleepless nights...possible redesign of rear bumper...stay tuned!

Here is what we got planned. I really like my rear bumper with one exception, no rear quarter panel protection. I really like the design of my swing out arm. After a few back and forth emails with Steve at CBI I have decided to enhance my rear bumper.

What we plan to do is he will start building the bottom portion of my bumper. I will then ship him the swing out portion so he can begin final adjustments. When all is said and done I will have the bottom portion of the new CBI bumper, like TacoDocs.

Along with the swing out portion of my bumper.

Surprisingly, it's reasonable on our budget.

This new design will give me a greater departure angle, swing out strut, and rear quarter panel protection.

Good luck with all that shipping. Why not just sell you bumper and get a new one? Would that not work out to spending about the same amount?

Nope, there is a way to ship the swing out to him for only about $35 and the bumper to me is $75! The new bumper will come to about $599 or so when all is said and done. After I sell the old bumper I will have next to nothing to pay out of pocket. The shipping company is www.fastenal.com. Well, technically they are not for shipping, but Steve has a special deal with them.

Besides, I like my swing out better then the new ones.
