Phil's Adventure Tacoma

And what is "the light"? Having lived in CT, I wonder where you would go that you would need one???

There is more here then most of us know about, believe me. 7wt and I are just starting to discover there are a bunch of old stagecoach roads that are still legal roads. Some of which I have not fully tried, due to large water crossings. Check out this thread if you have not seen it. http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25756 This is my seeing the "light". No, there are no long stretches of road that go for miles on end, but there are still fun places to explore that few know about.

Also, remember its only 3 hours to Vermont or New Hampshire and one can easily take a long weekend trip to Maine where you can get lost for days. I have said it before, but will say it again just look at New England as a state and you will realize there are endless roads to explore at your doorstep. I've come to realize I have more place's to explore within an half hours range of me here, then I ever did within 1 hour of me in Oregon.

That's going to be awesome Phil. Yes, take lots of pictures.

By the way, what is the part # for that snorkel?

Attempted snorkel install

The weather was working against 7wt and I. Our first choir was to try and make a dry place for us to work.

Unfortunately, the wind was picking up and making it difficult so we had to just deal with the rain.

Things were going pretty well at first. Then we started to realize where the differences were in this snorkel and that this really is not made for our trucks. The install takes a lot of guess work and trial and error even with TacoDoc's install.

The template takes a lot of figuring out to make it work on our trucks.

After a lot of double checking, head scratching, and discussion we began to drill:Wow1:

7wt brought his nail polish as a base coat for sealing up the holes. Sorry, I had to say that 7wt. We also used some touch up paint too.

Then came our hang up. This rubber elbow.

We tried everything to make this bend work, but everything we tried would not work. It just would not do what it was meant to do and we don't know why.

We had spent nearly 5 hours on it and by this time our fingers were frozen and we were cold and tired. It was decided to bolt the snorkel on and brainstorm over the next week.

So here is my ExPo bling. It is not functional yet, but I hope we can work out the problems soon.

Awesome start Phil. Wish I'd known you were working on it in the rain. Would've offered up the garage for you! We had to fab up a custom connector when we fitted the snorkel from a Prado 120 to the Subie.

Ah, no big deal. We have the connector basically figured out. The problems come with this damn rubber elbow that will attach to the snorkel and then the connector. We can't get the angle of the elbow right and its not sticking out far enough. We know we have the snorkel in the right position and the rubber elbow is not too short yet so we can't understand why we can't get it to work. You would have to see it in person to understand I think.
