Forest roads between bennington/arlington VT?

Phil, Where are these roads? I get over in that area often and have never been able to find any roads to explore, are they marked on any maps/topos? Would you mind sharing the locations? Your changes to your truck are coming along great. stay safe, mjmcdowell

Looking for opinions on winches. Yes I know this has been covered to death. I'm finally in the market for a winch.

The one's in my price range are.

Superwinch EP9.0
 • Line Pull: = 9000 lbs
 • Voltage: = 12V
 • Motor: = 4.6 hp
 • Remote Control: = 15 ft. Lead
 • Gear Ratio: = 156:1
 • Size: = 23.35 in. x 6.26 in. x 7.13 in.
 • Weight: = 108 lbs.
 • Wire Rope: = 100 ft. of 21/64
 • Fairlead: = Roller
 • Winch Type: = Electric

Main reason for Superwinch.....it's a Connecticut based company with a decent reputation on a similar level to the king...Warn. 9,000 Lb Capacity in a reasonably priced winch. This is on top of my list.

Negative for me= heavy compared to the other two in my list.

Warn M8000
 • Rated Line Pull: = 8000 lbs.
 • Motor: = 12V
 • Horse Power: = 4.8
 • Remote Control: = Remote switch, 12 ft. lead
 • Gear Ratio: = 216.1
 • Size: = 21.04 in. x 6.3 in. x 7.6 in.
 • Weight: = 80 lbs.
 • Wire Rope = 100 ft. of 5/16
 • Fairlead = Roller
Tabor 9K Value Series Winch
 • Rated Line Pull: = 9000 lbs.
 • Motor: = 12V
 • Horse Power: = Not Rated
 • Remote Control: = Remote switch, 12 ft. lead
 • Gear Ratio: = Not Published
 • Size: = 22.7 in. x 6.3 in. x 7.7 in.
 • Weight: = 84 lbs.
 • Wire Rope = 100 ft. of 5/16
 • Fair
Any input would be appreciated.

I had a Tabor 9k as did my brother. His was over a year older than mine. We both had issues. I had mine rebuilt once and sold it. He had his rebuilt twice and now the whole is covered in corrosion so bad he cant get it apart anymore.

Cough Cough cough T-Max 9k Outback cough works great despite original claims. Though you can't go wrong with the m8000

winch

why get a winch in a truck that can't get stuck?

Just kidding.

have had a few Superwinch and being local that is good, but did have a few issues with solenoid problems.

beware of heat if using synthetic rope with some winches, older warn models,.

So when are you getting a winch for your buggy Carl?

winch

I have considered a winch/bumper for a while. On other vehicles, gone that route, but when you consider on the east coast how often you need one, it is tough to justify. I carry a high quality hand winch which has pulled out of mud a big M-37 brush truck! Certainly slow process, but without the added up front weight on a light truck like tacoma. Also very reliable, non electric, low cost, and can pull from any angle. I'm convinced that with a high lift and good hand winch, you can get out of many stuck situations.

When are we going out? maybe today?

let me know

My vote goes to the Superwinch. I've got the EPi9 with a synthetic line and aluminum fairlead it's really not bad weight wise. I've only used it three times, but it's easy to hook up, use and control.
