Look at my truck...warranty...ha! That would be some fight. It does have an extended warranty, but I just don't even want that hassle.

I am going to change the fluid. There might be a chance it's water in the fluid.
I had a squeal on my 08 taco's power steering and my service manager told me to put limited slip additive in the mix. To my suprise it worked.

I used my extended warranty yesterday, replaced the temp/compass gauge with a new unit.

$50 deductible and I was on my way (Toyota Platinum warranty 100,000 mile/10 year via Toyota Extra Care).

Use your warranty dude!

Alright, I will give it a try. Things are a bit different around here as trucks like mine are pretty rare, that and the dealerships a just horrid in this area. I'll try though.

Hmm, interesting.

If you don't intend to use your extended warranty some times you can cancel it and get a prorated refund. I did this with my Subaru WRX after I realized there was no way it was staying stock :)

Modding the truck in and of itself does not legally constitute grounds for denial of warranty coverage. The ‘Magnuson Moss Act' was established to protect consumers from unjustifiable warranty denial.

Basically, they have to prove that a modification/aftermarket part caused the failure of the OEM warranty item.

This is how some guys with 05+ Tacos have had the entire frame replaced despite lifts etc. when the motor mounts failed due to bad welds - they wanted to deny these claims but could not PROVE that the suspension lifts/mods had any impact on early motor mount failure.

Do not got to Lorensen Toyota in Old Saybrook as I had multiple problems with the work they performed on my truck when they did the 50N steering relay rod recall. I wound up having to go to another dealership to have the problems resolved. Just my 2 cents.

I know, I have heard a lot of bad rep about Lorensen. Actually, about all 4 in the area.

As far as dealers go, I had a great experience at Toyota of Colchester. I will take my buggy back to them when the time comes.

What's up Tucker? How's things?

Going faily well. Just been getting ready for winter time. Split wood , stack wood, split wood , stack wood. Work come home from work, split wood and stack wood. Did I mention I still have some wood to split ? Just a busy time of year.:Wow1:

I keep on forgetting my brother in law is a Toyota Tech down on Long Island. After discussing it with him, we decided to take the hellish drive down to the "Crowded" Island. After several techs looked at the problem they were all in agreement that it was the power steering pump as others had told me too.

All signs were pointing to the pump. $200 later and we were sitting in my brother in laws drive way with the pump out and the new one next to it.

We got everything flushed again and installed. Turned on the truck.....still making the noise. Turns out one of the pulleys is bad and is mimicking the sound of the power steering pump when it is going bad. There went $200 down the drain, when in reality it was a simple fix. $80 in gas...gone. Stress levels after the drive around NYC...through the roof!

Back up two weeks when 7wt and I flushed the system. A good deal of muck came out. Apparently, mud came threw the cap somehow.

Its unfortunate that Toyota used non sealed bearings for the Tacoma pulleys, as deep water crossings just flush out the bearings.

More great thinking from Toyota on the new Gen Tacomas

Just here...
So, if you dont mind me asking, whats your mpg now with the truck built like this? Im trying to decide if a full size diesel fully built is more cost effective than a midsize V6 gasser, fully built.

Sweet build, by the way. A lot of thought has gone into it and it shows

Thank you for the props. I'm looking at around 12-15mpg. Honestly, if you have the need for a full size then I would go in that direction since you can easily find a diesel. I wish I had a diesel in this truck.

Impressive truck. I've the afternoon reading the entire thread. It almost makes me wish I kept my 07 Taco. I'm looking forward to your next round of upgrades.

Welcome to the Portal! I should have a few small things done by the end of the week and then it might be sometime before anything else happens.

I have some BIG plans for the truck, but who knows when they will happen.
