About your shovel mount & Hi-Lift

Phil... Nice truck by the way. Check your shovel every once and a while although the shaft has a finish on it the tapered end fitting into the blade may not, water seepage over time= rot =breakage when you least want it to, ( A Murphys 4-wheeling law?????) I have tried all manner of outside mounting/protection and have found that covering it just keeps moisture on the jacking mechanism and/or mast promoting rust, I have found the old trick we used on our M-16's during my tour in RVN, keep lubricated (WD-40 for the jack now days) check often in wet season, nasty weather and very minimal lubrication, check often in the nicer, dryer weather, just a thought but this approach has kept my jack working and very rust free for many years

You have a beautiful tacoma great build.

Thank you very much. I am very happy with it.

Shovel- Check. I am really surprised by whole well this shovel is holding up. For $60 it better! I do go over it several time a month.
Hi-Lift- Double Check. The new Hi-Lift neoprene cover is actually working really well. While it does not keep all water out, it seems to be keeping all the salt and dirt off it. The neoprene also dries really fast. The mechanism still looks new.

Nice job Phil. Glad to see you have it the way you want it. Looks great.

It's almost to where I want it.

Phil, the truck's looking great. Much cleaner look without the tire hanging off the back.

Michelle bought me the neoprene cover for my Hi-Lift jack that rides on the back of my Jeep's tire carrier. It is doing a great job, even with the huge amount of salt that's been spread on the roads around here this year. I used it to level a shooting shack that went out of kilter with last weeks January thaw and the mechanicals looked like they've been stored in the garage the whole time. It's nice to actually be able to use the jack without fighting with it for a half hour.

Ain't never gonna happen. There's always some other approach or some crafty new idea that will grab your fancy. I've got the feeling your to much of a tinkerer to resist the urge to tweek.

Its life as an ExPo vehicle has come and gone. It's now regulated to an eye catcher for a pizzeria on Long Island.:(

So ends this build thread.

Medical expenses were killing us so it had to go. Those unplanned expenses just snuck up on us. We really just did not see it coming.

Hopefully, in the next two weeks I will have an 80 series to my name. Unfortunately, our budget is roughly $7,000 so that leaves out a lot of 80 series with factory lockers. That said, I will be happy to have one even without that. The search is on.
