Very nice!! You did a great job with it. Astros look so much better when lifted. I am suprised none of the tiger geeks commented on the the background rv.

Mesh over windows

The mesh over the windows looks cool and the storage thing is great but how do you wash the inside of the windows?

Great question. This was something I realized the day I was welding them in. Unfortunately it was too late. I was under a time crunch and was not afforded to the flexibility to do it the right way. The right way would have been to weld a frame around each window then bolt the mesh to the frame. The reason I had to weld was that there wasn't enough meat around some of the windows to bolt them directly to the vehicle's frame. So far it hasn't been an issue. I'll use compressed air to blow them out occasionally.

I had the same thought, as that's something I want to do with mine. Can't believe I never though of the frame idea.

Well freakin done!

Zchan- that is really well done. Extremely good use of the space in the astro. The screenroom looks great! The mesh on the windows are not my thing but other than that it is exactly how I want to set one up someday. What are those storage boxes in the back? Surplus somethin huh? I am jealous!!.....

That's exactly why we caged the back. Driving south of the border. However, the cage has proven to be a great way to increase storage space. A couple of bungie cords and S hooks allow us to hang stuff up everywhere.

You could also do a jail bar setup for security similar to the old microbus, which would keep people out and allow more room for window cleaning, and maybe look a little better.... just carry them all the way up and around to all windows.

EDIT: Or something like these, you could hang all sorts of stuff on this setup!

Dirtbound Offroad makes custom window racks. Great, as mentioned, for hanging stuff on rear side windows and depending on how you install will provide security. The link is to XJ ones, but I'm sure they can be custom made as he does lots of custom work.
