Pillow talk...oops Pillowtrack

Looks pretty cool. I'm curious on the durability of the product. Rolls up to stow away is a plus.

I think I saw these at OvEx on the Disabled Explorers Rig. It seems like the best combination of sand ladders and the ARB inflatable jack thingy.

We used them in the snow, and I was not that impressed. When the conditions were wet, they shot out to one side or another. We were considering carrying them, and they seemed like a great idea in the publications and videos, however, we were not able to replicate the success rate in the snow. Maybe some others that were there will chime in.

yeah, I think that pictures are worth a thousand words here...words of a salesperson at least; you can trust salespeople can't you?

Probably not. Someone from PillowTrack said, "Pillow Tracks will do everything a bridging ladder will, and more!"

Hi,

There is no recovery tool that will recover any vehicle from any situation (not that we know of anyway).

Please accept our apologies if Pillowtrack was claimed to be a "do it all tool" by any of our team members.

The Pillowtrack shown in snow photo above is the SUV version, which is not designed for use in snow.

Nevertheless, it comes out handy in many other situations as can be seen in the attached.

Always nice to see a product supplier taking an interest in the forum, and appreciated when they don't pretend to just be a user!

How well do these things deal with coming up against a hot exhaust etc?

I find it interesting you are so quick to NOT approve this product altogether.

Did you try it in any surface other than snow?

You as a vendor, have a lot of power to shape people's perception of a product. Might want to fully test a product in its intended capacity before ruling it out...

My .02 cents.

Oh, and props to the company for coming out and saying that certain models have limitations. Good representation and question answering garner big points in this community.

I'm still considering these, and would love a full review if at all possible before buying.

:)

I too would like to see a full review on these. Do the pillow tracks that are 'for' snowy conditions have features/limitations that would make them less than ideal for other terrain types?

I understand that a full review by someone other that a manufacturer/distributer would not come quickly (change of seasons, change of terrain) but perhaps Overland Journal could test these and let us know if they are worth the money or not. I was very impressed when I saw these tools at the Overland Expo and am interested in them. That being said, I trust Wil and his ability to test items without bias. Perhaps he was unaware of the snowy ones???
