Pop up Camper run

Great minds!

I'd been thinking about a canvas raft like that for a while. I'm a little old school, didn't occur to me to look for one on line. I think that is going to be the ticket for my use, thanks for doing the leg work for me!

Just ordered one, will let you know how it works out. If nothing else my grandson gets a new pool float!

I'm not going to be able to make the DV Pop Top run. I'm behind on Spring time tasks around the house and it turns out that I'll be tied up with other commitments next weekend leaving little time to prepare for the trip.

Hopefully the Pop Top run will go well and lead to others in the future.

Bummer...

Cliff, Lori, you guys still in?

Yes, I'm still in for the trip. And looking forward to it. Weather should be nice. I put new tires on the Chevy last week.

I've got 2 meter Ham radio in the rig so we can communicate (no CB radio, however).

Susie started a new job with a different company so she's not eligible for any time off yet so I'll be traveling solo (which means I have to do my own food prep - not good).

Anyone else with a pop-up camper that wants to go just let us know. We can accommodate 4x2 so don't let the lack of a 4x4 stop you. All you need is a truck, a camper, a sunny disposition and a desire to have fun.

Yes, doing research on park and equipment. Went to Fred hall show yst to look at FWD pop ups. Wow. Lovely designs.

For park info Found this helpful http://ilovenationalparks.org/deathvalley.html

I'm still outfitting camper. Purchased some solar gear (perfect for DV, right) and now Considering getting a fridge. Any recommendations? EdgeStar is closest to my price range.

Planning to bring lots of water, Will carrying 5 gallons of fuel be enough? How far do you want to go in park w/out gas stops?

Thank you for help with plans/prep/itinerary reminders.

It's been years since I volunteered in DVNP (it was a National Monument back then) I'm still pretty familiar with the overall mojo out there.

Although fuel is available at Furnace Creek (expensive!!) filling up in beautiful Baker before heading up Hwy 127 will be prudent.

It's a good idea to bring lots of water; I'll be carrying 37 gallons.

No recommendations on a fridge from me. We just have what came with the camper (propane/12 volt).

I've been using an Edgestar 45 qt for over 5 years now...that's continuous use. When it's not in my truck/Jeep on a trip on a 12v circuit, it's plugged in to 120v and keeping the beer cold on the back porch!

Cliff/Lori, I enjoy bacon and eggs for breakfast, if it's just the three rigs going it's no problem for me to make enough breakfast for everyone. Machelle and I can have bacon/eggs/coffee covered for Friday and Saturday mornings no problem.

Cliff is in charge of our route (whether he knows it/accepts the job or not!:sombrero:) If he doesn't accept the job, looks like we'll be camped off of Harry Wade Rd for 3 days! Doing nothing for three days is my specialty!:sombrero:

Looks like we are going to be a small enough group that making decisions on the fly shouldn't be an issue. My favorite vacations are when I know where I'm going, when I'm leaving, and when I need to get back, leaving the what I'm going to do open for whatever happens!

My only goal this trip is to get an idea of the capabilities of my truck/camper for off road travel. It's been off road countless times, rarely more than 40-50 miles at a time. Interesting to see if it's tolerable for longer off road excursions.

No problem, I can get us lost just as well as anyone :smiley_drive:

I've got some ideas for our route that's not too structured and won't leave us beat by the end of the day.

Bob, I think I will be coming out after work on Thursday (ETA 1800 hrs). Gotta prepare the report for a fire board meeting that I will be missing on Saturday.

No worries. We'll have camp waiting for you. Pick a HAM freq to use and I'll make sure I monitor it for your arrival.

KTMRIDER (Eric) may join us on Friday, either afternoon or early evening. That would give us four total if my memory serves me.

We'll be hitting Saratoga Springs on our way thru the Harry Wade Route. After that we can wing it. If someone wants to we can poke our noses up side roads, etc.

I suggest we be on Greenwater Valley Road on Friday afternoon to meet up with Eric. Here's where I thought we could stay Friday night.

It's just over 2 miles in from HWY 178 on Greenwater Valley Road and easy to find if Eric or anyone else decides to join in. We can travel to and visit Greenwater ghost town the next morning.

I'm keeping this pretty loose so we're not on a time schedule. We can go where we want and spend as much time rubber necking as we want without rushing.

I propose a trip mantra - Travel easy. See the sights. Pop the top. Relax. Repeat.
