Portland to Prescott on a Ural Solo

Mike,

Forgot you were in Portland. Would be great to say hello for dinner. Maybe we can pick a restaurant on the south side of the city a small group of us can meet at?

Would be nice to meet up
Great! How's somewhere around I-5 Exit 290 or 289? Lots of stuff around there. Is that roughly the "south side of the city" distance you were thinking of?

And (I mention this in the name of optimization) if you're worried about running late and riding after dark--I was raised on Triumph headlamps--know that we have a guest suite you're welcome to use if you want to take off in the morning.

PS: I'll bring my Airhawk in case you want to borrow it.

That is perfect Mike.

I fly in around 2pm, and will have a few hours getting the bike sorted. I suspect dinner around 6-6:30 would work great. Would be nice to see as many people as want to stop in.

Do you have a restaurant suggestion Mike? I am happy with anything given my typical travel diet.

The offer of accommodation sounds great Mike - I will plan on that. Always nice to spend time with fellow travelers as opposed to another hotel room.

To avoid the vast array of chain restaurants Scott has seen before, let's propose 6:30 pm at Pastini's at Bridgeport:

Bridgeport Village Mall
7307 SW Bridgeport Rd B-105, Tigard, OR

(503) 718-2300

It's immediately west of I-5 at Exit 290.

-- Take Exit 290 for Lower Boone's Ferry Road toward Durham.

-- Turn right onto Lower Boone's Ferry Road

-- Curve right at the signal onto SW 72nd Avenue

-- Turn left after 0.1 mile to proceed along north edge of the Bridgeport Mall

-- Proceed left into the bowels of the mall. Park where you can in the lot you're passing through.

I'll be there for 6:30. Chime in ASAP if you are going to join us.

That's great, Scott. Beyond the camaraderie, it may prove more pleasant waiting until Thursday AM to hit the road.

That was crazy. I was so rookied out on that trip. Not that I have anything figured out now, but I was only 72 hours into my motorcycle license! Great memories.

I think we were both significantly better riders by the time we got to the end of the trail.

I gotta say the BMW was pretty comfy though - other than that utterly brutal 1,400 mile / 38 hour ride home the day after we hit the beach.

FWIW, since they don't take reservations at Pastini's, and they tend to get crowded around 6:30, I'll be getting there a little early, so Chris, Scott and/or Andy, check around when you arrive and you needn't wait until 6:30. I'll be wearing my dress ex-Officio shirt, being too polite to wear my even-more-clichéd EarthRoamer ball cap indoors. (And it'll help ensure we don't have mosquitoes at our table. ;) )

So does the Ural Solo still have a reverse gear since its based on the sidecar bikes?
