Possible to go from 20" rims to 16" rims?

I can confirm (having tried it) that 16 inch wheels will not fit. 07+ chevy and gmc suvs and 1500s need at least 17inch wheels.

Decided on going to mainline overland and having them hook it up. After looking at all these websites for so long my brain shuts down...lol...thanks for all the help...going w 17's and cooper at3s... Can't wait to overland in philly!

The truth hurts sometimes. ha ha. and Honesty is all you get out of this guy.

We need to keep the "bros" happy though - need them for a steady supply of cheap new factory take-offs!

That's my dilemma with finding LC100 16"s, not enough bros out there driving early LC100s :(

Nope. that's for sure. Most are the big three for sure...with the odd Nissan and Toyota tundra tossed into the mix.

Very true. Since I hate my boring wheels (and they've got some chipping and discoloring on them) just for fun I did a quick CL search for Chevy 6 lug truck wheels - Wow! LOTS of them out there. I may pick up a set of Z71 wheels and keep them behind the garage until it's time to get new tires. It's also nice that us Chevy guys have the option of GM and Hummer wheels as well, and so many people swap out their stock wheels that they're easy to find.
.
Mine are the LT 5 spoke wheels. Meh. If they were 16's I'd keep them just because 16" = cheaper tires (and the bigger sidewall is just a bonus) but since they're 17's there's no real reason for me to like them, and there are nicer 17's out there.

I have been looking for a set for my ford...no luck there. too old. The bro's are all oil patchers and don't do up old trucks.

Well, good news for me I picked up a set of 16's off of CL for pretty cheap. From my quick internet search they appear to be identical to wheels that the earlier GMT-800 'burbs and Tahoes used, as they look like this:

They're dirty and scratched but no big gouges or divots. I'm going to remove the tires (they're all worn down anyway) and spend some time this summer cleaning and polishing them. Once the camping season is over I'll ditch my 17" rims and get a set of AT KO's or Wrangler Duratracs. Best of all, going from 17 to 16 is going to save me ~ $200 on tires! (and I paid WAY less than $200 for the rims. ;) )

The clear coat is in terrible condition anyway so I'm actually going to remove it, clean and polish the wheels and then re-clearcoat them.
In that case, the best way to clean them and get the clear coat off is to soda blast them. You'll need a good sized compressor and a blaster setup, or you could take them to a blast shop. Don't let them use any abrasive other than soda.

Good decision on the 16" wheels.

With the high cost of stock alloy wheels and their relative vulnerability (not much in the way of tire side wall to take the brunt of a curb scrape), there are many shops that service the trade who specialize in stripping, smoothing, polishing and clear coating wheels. Since they are set up for it they can do it for not much more than buying the supplies yourself. Suggest you look into this option as their work is usually impeccable and you'll have done wheels back in a day or two.

Hmmm...I hadn't heard that. Would be worth checking out. The back of these wheels are REALLY dirty, so cleaning them up is going to be an effort. The nice thing is I have time as I don't plan on putting them on until fall.
