Uncle Jesse, that Canada trip looked great. Appreciate the pics from all.
Currently have a fairly new 5th wheel as my temporary residence. Down the road, desire a TC with slide. Will mount on a gooseneck w/tool boxes underneith & my 1st Gen K5 behind.

I have re-stained the siding and changed the rear rims and tyres to E load rating and now also have hubcaps all 'round

The truck is a 1940 Chev, I have had it 16yrs and it is in regular use as the shop truck.

In the past , I used it for camping with the canvas cover over the deck , but a tin roof is better

My friend built the camper 15yrs ago for his '37 Chev pickup

He now has a '59 Apache and the camper doesn't fit.

Last Christmas , I realised the camper was just sitting under the trees at his place wasting away.As you can see I did the sensible thing

I made the leadlight windows for him during the original build.

The previous owner restored the truck 1981, I have since built a new deck and done several mechanical/body/upholstery repairs as I have worn things out (just thru daily use)

1987 SunLite Hideaway 9.5' purchased in January 2013 just now got it out of storage (friends barn). I had to make adapters for the jacks to make them wider and taller to get it into my 96 Ram 3500 (Cummins of course). The camper needs minor plumbing repair, some electrical upgrades, and a new roof. I will be knocking the to-do list down and getting it ready for a trip to Tennessee in a month. We are from south central Indiana. The Dodge has many performance goodies, fueling mods in the P7100 pump, larger delivery valves, injectors, stainless header, custom HX40 turbo, Jacobs exhaust brake, 4" down pipe and 6" exhaust, electric fans, 5 speed, 2" leveling spacers up front, Firestone Ride-Rite bags in back (aired down in pic), custom steel 19.5" wheels wrapped in 14 ply 245/70/19.5 Good Year Wrangler MTR rubber from Treadwright.com , the truck has gobs of other upgrades and accessories as well..
Just got it home in this pic, still need to build tie downs for truck also. Also looking to build a receiver hitch for the front that probably will tie into the Boss snowplow mount. On that hitch I will mount a cargo rack likely.

I also have this gem, a 1973 Amerigo 11' with the Snap N Nap rear pop out bed! It needs a full blown restoration, I shouldn't have bought it but I couldn't resist saving it and the fiancé talked me into it (gotta love her!). I hate to tear into it until I have a roof over it because its gonna be a frame up job along with much modernizing and upgrades. I'm pretty sure the entire interior will be completely different when it's done and I have some cool ideas for the outside too but it will still maintain the Amerigo look and all of the things that make it cool and unique! It'll be a while before I can start on it.

Good looking rig. Like that size of camper for my vehicle only in standard cab configuration. And come to think of it I don't believe I've seen guys driving full-size-hardsides on Mojave Trail, mostly Jeeps and SUV's w/popup tents and such. How's your Lance hold up to the rolling & flexing; mounts, doors, windows, just curious?:coffeedrink:

With the clearance issues we experienced going thru the Joshua tree forest, I'm convinced we're the first to do the M.R. in hardsides. The Lance seems no worse for the wear from that trip. It all has to do with tie downs. Looser, especially at the rear ones when the suspension is articulating and flexing the frame (which the Dodge does precious little of). Also, I disconnect one side of the rr anti-sway bar, remove the camper struts, lower the pressure to 30 lbs. front/28 lbs. rr on those super singles and generally act like I'm driving a 10,000 pound Jeep. With two sets of upper overload springs; and those great Stable Loads it is pretty smooth and not so swaying as before i did all the above. We did another trip XTC style a couple weeks ago on the east side of the Sierra Nevada with mixed results. See rv.net, truck camper section for a trip report: HIGH SIERRA HIGH XTC
I am amazed the wooden framed, tin sided box does as well as it does with me beating on it all the time.
The ball coupler on the trailer hitch took it in the shorts and cracked on account of too much over-travel. I have since switched to an 8 ton pintel and 16 ton lunette as the hitch on the little blue 1955 Bradley. Articulation is fine now.
