2012 JKU

As it sits now, 2012 JKU auto with 3.5 Rubi Express lift and FOX 2.0 shocks / Toyo MT 34"s on Teflon coated ATX wheels / 10k XRC winch / Expedition One front bumper / OR-Fab rear tire carrier with rotopax / CB / ESP kill switch / and a few other things I'm sure I'm forgetting.

I AM building this as an Overlander, but on a very simplified and light weight one. My concept is to try to keep things light enough for me to carry on my back if needed. So no giant stove, just a little burner. No huge roof top tent, just a 2man backpacking tent. No fancy blow up mattress or cot, just a little pad. Etc.

I like it.

That's my philosophy as well.

I'm doing the same thing, except with a Tacoma.

If I had the money, I would love to build a Tacoma as well. It would be more fun for the high speed stuff for sure. But man I love my Jeep, haha.

Nice! I love to see the SUV jeeps used like this. I am not a huge fan on the winch sticking out so far but who cares? You got to do what you go to do and at least you are out in the woods!

I can always pull it off if needed for approach clearance. It spends most of the time strapped down behind the rear seats.

Some sort of lost...
No real wheeling lately just a little wandering. By the time I get back home I'll have spent only 8 out of 46 days at (or near) home, damn work!

I drove up Mackenzie pass in Oregon a week ago to watch the sunrise through the smoke of a forest fire.

Then I headed out to Ollalie lake (between Mt Jefferson and Mt Hood) to camp by myself, totally silent with nobody around. We've had a full house every time I've been home for a few months, so it was nice to chill by myself and a bottle of jack.

I'm still real pleased with the AEV suspension but the 20ish miles of rough washboard were miserable as ever.
