Post up your drawer/storage system

Well.... I cheated : ) I was looking at building a custom drawer storage but was looking around on Craigslist and found this one made by "DECKED" It is vehicle specific and the guy I bought it from sold his truck and it didn't fit his new truck. It cost $1149.00 new and he had it less than a year. I paid him less than half for it. It mounts to your factory bed tie downs with threaded J rods which I don't like as there are already stress cracks around the mounting holes. I'm going to bolt it thru the bed floor for a more secure mounting. The drawers are nice and slide very easily on large rubber wheels that have ball bearings and the drawer latching mechanisms are very solid. The drawer locks are optional and I don't see them being very secure, if I pulled very hard I could see them failing. The deck has 4 storage cubby holes, one at each corner and if you flip the lids over they become drink holders which is a nice touch. There is no access to the bed drawers from inside the truck. Overall it does what I wanted it to do and I put a Cabela's air mattress on top to create a sleeping platform. Now for an ARB Fridge Freezer! ; )

Rebuilding my bed set-up. Had the Jobox drawer at the end of the bed towards the tailgate. Recently acquired a bed slide for a $100 and relocated the drawer to the top of the bed slide. Going over ideas on how I want to set-up the rest of the storage/drawers. I plan on building some storage to the sides of the bed slide.

Have anymore pics of this setup? What cap is that? Looks good.

I'm no carpenter....

Based on the high level of craftsmanship seen here I hesitated even posting this! haha

Constantly changing around my storage option so here it the latest. Holds the ARB fridge and a couple storage boxes of essentials we seem to use each trip.

drawers are done
they are just high enough to fit the harbor freight ammo boxes for stuff like stakes and batteries and such
the black part with the drawers closed, actually finishes covering the spare tire well and allows access to the tools and recovery gear that is stored there.

i DO need ot make one more set of dividers to hold hte ammo cans from sliding back, but other than that, im done

water tank is sitting there. ill wire it up tomorrow

Just about finished with my storage system I just built. I have 2 greyhounds that ride in the truck with me so I needed a storage system that was as short as possible so that the dogs could comfortably stand up in the back. The first iteration was just a simple 2 compartment platform and I just shoved all the gear in and it was a pain in the butt to have to pull everything out to look for a specific item. I would have loved to have found some rubbermaid bins that fit but because of the height of the platform I wasn't able to find any plastic bins that were shorter than 3" I decided I wanted to come up with something new that incorporated a fridge slide for my new ARB fridge. Here's what I came up with:

On the left side under the fridge I have a small drawer that will hold small items that I don't want to dig around for like flash lights, zip ties, tire gauge, tire deflators. I also put in a drawer light that lights up the drawer in case i need to find something when it's dark out. The reason for the drawer to be short is that the tool set I have was too tall to fit in the drawer so it now resides behind the drawer. Beneath the drawer I have a small coleman camp table if it's needed.

I used some Heavy duty drawer slides that supposedly are able to support 400lbs as a fridge slide.

The right hand side has a full length drawer where I can put things like more gear ties, fold up shovel, tire repair kit, recovery strap, recovery shackles. Instead of drawer slides I used UHMW strips so I could take full advantage of the width.

Beneath the right hand drawer I put in a pull out table for a quick lunch or something.

I don't really have any during the build but here's a couple taken in the garage when I was putting it all together:

I still need to put the fridge tie downs on but my favorite part of the build is probably the push button latches

Now that the storage system is complete I can start the next project which will be a camp kitchen/chuck box.

In the end I would have liked to have deeper drawers but this way the dogs are happy and if needed I can still fold down the seats and load up the back with cargo

Here are a pic of said dogs:

I decided to give the storage system a more finished look so I made some small side wings that also double as small storage cubbies. I recently just made a couple more storage bins over the wheel arches that allowed me to add more tools to the drawers since i moved all the recovery gear to the storage bins. The main cargo area isn't affected so the dogs still have plenty of room to roam around.

and on a side note I finally got to use my RTT this last week.

Great system. A place for everything and everything in it's place.

What do you use as slides for the table under the rh drawer? Not a lot of space on a thin table like that.

Thanks!

I just used regular 100lb slides. I basically mad a really shallow drawer and mounted it upside down.

Here are my ARB drawers just after they were installed last year, the left drawer is filled with camping, cooking gear and first aid, the right drawer is recovery and tools. The wing storage have an axe, saw, folding shovel, tape, lights, basically a bunch of misc items. Since these photos were taken all sorts of other stuff in cases and/or bags is stored back there. The fridge is on its own line from the second battery, also just added a 1/4 Thick RICHLITE Cutting Board for the whole tailgate

Well, after watching this thread for a while; stealing ideas, drawing plans, and figuring out my needs, I decided to copy some people here to the best of my abilities and make my own storage shelves and drawers for the GX. I used 1/2" baltic birch, Orr and Orr slides, and covered it with some thick paint from Home Depot. Definitely a budget build compared to what some others have built, but I think it should do the trick for me. In the next few weeks/months (as time allows), I'll build "wings" to enclose the sides, and route USB power and such in (currently on the side panel of the truck in the back). I still have to mount brackets to strap the fridge down to and put all my gear in. Here is what it looks like:

Looks like I need to clean my bumper.

What's the best way to secure the drawer box to the back of your rig? I'm having a 42x30" 2-drawer box built. Since my gas tank is directly under the cargo area (99 Jeep Cherokee) I was planning to weld in some brackets rather than screw the box into the floor. Am I over thinking this whole thing?
