Clever!

This one goes wayyyyy back:

You've got a story that's tough to beat. While waiting for a transmission to arrive in the Sahara...

But we have a pretty good picture:

The whole idea is to go where one whole number meets another whole number?

Yes, and document it with pictures. There are some uses besides just being fun:
- Geography teachers like it.
- There are some reseach groups who use it to verify remote sensing data. The pictures on the ground are more useful to them then Landsat images where there is still a lot of guessing if the 'green' is forest or agriculture

Okay, I know some other people on the forum have logged confluences, so I thought we should start a thread to track them. So post up. . .!

Here are a couple I did with other forum members:
With awalter: 32N 116W
With BajaTaco: 17N 101E

Aside from the ones in Thailand with WhiteThaiGer, I have one in AZ. Is this thread only for successful visits? Because this one wasn't successful, but it was a great trip.

Two of my most interesting confluence experiences involved planning for confluences that had not been visited and documented. One of them was the one in AZ (above) and another was in Mexico. On both accounts, we did extensive planning for the trip with recon' missions ahead of the actual visit. And both times, someone beat us to it. So my advice is, if you are planning a trip to an unvisited confluence, don't post your plans in public, and hurry up!

Yes, ours was undocumented before we got it, but I'm pretty sure it had been visited. The goat herder was kinda shocked that we were so excited to find a random piece of ground. We did try for another unvisited, but we found unexploded ordinance on the ground on the way there, so decided to bag it.

cheers
