Is it Mitsubishi "blasphemy" to strip and store the good parts and scrap the remaining body?

YES! keep it as a spare running truck, i bought spare 02 Sport XLS with bad fuel pump after replacing that and doing timing belt from spares bin it still runs to this day. Plus it's easier to keep parts organized and you can store more inside of it ;)

This is my 04 Montero Sport. Just added a 2" lift and 33" wranglers after my last deployment. I'm looking to add a skid plate, an air locker, some rock sliders, and a front winch bumper. I've been able to find an air locker for my car but everything else seems to be a bit harder to find. There's an ARB front winch bumper but it apparently only fits the pre-2000 models. And for the rock sliders, it looks like most of the Montero Sports I've seen have been more of a customized job. Just figured I'd ask to see what yall thought.

The arb front bumper will fit. Just have to trim the grill and relocate the washer fluid reservoir. Plus reinforce the bumper mounts but thats needed on all of them.

It looks great! What parts did you use for the lift and where did you get them from?

Old Man Emu has an all inclusive lift kit. Also if you go on ARB's website, they have a decent parts list (which lines up with what Old Man Emu has) and breaks it down between the 97-99 and 00-04 models.

Just got back from a 4 Months Journey across america and back home. Took it slow and did a majority of trails, off roads and camping. The montero was bad ***!

Custom built a cabinet space for the rear truck. The cabinet included a T-Line subwoofer built in.

Your pictures and Montero are absolutely beautiful touaherr79! (But just FYI this is the SPORT thread)

Here is my humble Sport up in the Sierra Nevada Mountian's in California last month. We spent time hiking and camping in Yosemite, Whitney Portal, and Lone Pine.

any issue with the brush guard catching on things while you are off road with it? I found one at the junkyard the other day. I have to mod it first to work with the 2 inch body lift I did though... :( .
No, not at all. I've had it scrape on the ground, but that's kind of the point, it's takes the abuse instead of the actual bumper. I actually got mine at the junkyard too for $40.
