Nice JK. How much are those hard top camper option things?
Thanks RuffnReadyXJ

I was able to offset the cost by selling OEM hard top. The cost difference between buying J30 camper & selling OEM hardtop vs buying roof rack & hard shell RTT (Autohome, James Baroud) was less the $1000.

Great video, jeepovich! Someday I hope to have a J30 top... really turns the jeep into the ultimate camping rig, IMO. BTW, would you mind sharing what the music is in your video? It's very cool.

I've been considering a JK over the years but can't bring my self to pull the trigger on one. They are sweet rigs and fit 37s no problem! It would be cool to keep the factory soft top then get one of those campers. Pretty pricey but worth it IMHO.

The math makes sense though. Hardtop upgrade is 1k new, plus the racks and tent like you say add up as well.

I'm in San Diego. The big rock is in the area called Jamul ( pronounced as Ha-mul) and it is called "The pancake rock". The trail (for my Australian friends - the track:) ) leading to it is now very technical due to erosion (a lot of fun). The footage at the very beginning of the video and all the areas with pine trees was taken at Big Bear mountain.
It is worth taking the 1k hard top option because you can sell it for at least $1400 (sold my for $1700). If one to buy a hart top by it self from a dealer they are almost $4000, after market retailers $2000. In my case, I bought a demo model for dirt cheep and the hardtop was part of the package (no soft top).
The music is by Vieux Farka Touré. I found it by chance while surfing internet for royalty free music. I'm sorry but I can't recall the website.
I am on 35" tires and 15" wheels with 3.5" lift kit.
Here is the Big Bear mountain camp site from bird's eye view:

Dang, I might need to add the San Diego area to my wheeling/exploring bucket list. JK's up in the Bay Area are retardedly pricey, they all have 3-5k mark ups on stock JKU and JKUR. I wouldn't buy a dealer lifted one, but, non the less some of the ones with bumpers, sliders and 35's are literally 55k at the dealer and you know people are buying them. Yikes!

southernraised...is that an AC unit or swamp cooler??? Non the less, hows it not falling out!?

Looks awesome and roomy! Would you say that 2 adults and 2 toddlers can sleep confortably in there? And also if you don't mind me asking, what's the going price $ for a RTT like yours? Thanks in advance...

I pitched this tent for the first time in over a year last weekend. I forgot how nice it was to have so much space! A 4 man tent for one dude is REALLY nice!

Kelty Acadia 4 somewhere south of I10 off the Bradshaw Trail.

I thought everything south of Bradshaw trail was military. Great pic and I really like that area. We got rained on, camping in Cougar Buttes.
