pot and pans

Just my $.02, but I think you guys are missing out if you don't take a closer look at this nesting set from Cuisinart.

I'll be quiet now.

It looks like that line is being phased out or something. Amazon had that set for as little as $39.95, now its not being sold online except in a few places and its always at least $120 or more. Many of the places that pop up when searching show it as "out of stock".

Seems like a good set, depending on the price you'd pay, and IF you can get it.

Yes, I believe Cuisinart has discontinued this set, but it is still available from at least a couple on-line stores (Chef's Resource and West Marine). I don't know about getting it for $40 - that would be a great deal if you could find it. The Snow Peak set that others are considering is $149, which is what lead me to suggest this as a lower cost option.

We purchased ours from Chef's Resource a few months back when we were equipping our trailer, and can recommend them as a source.

I currently have a whole set of Paul Revere stainless steel copper clad bottoms that were my grandparents set back in the 50s or 60s.

I have a newer set I bout twenty years ago for home use.

Have used the old set camping for over thirty years.
But this year I am switching out to Lodge cast iron.
I recently got a 10" skillet and Dutch oven for home use and was so thrilled at the non stick properties of it, I ordered up a 8" skillet and a 8" Dutch oven, and a 20"x10" grille/griddle combo that fits on my Camp Chef Denali stove perfectly.

Lodge Logic Two Quart Serving Pot with Iron Cover (fits the skillet too)

I will keep one old pot for heating up water for the French Press and dishwashing water.
Everything else will be the Lodge cast iron.
Food tastes way better from it, and also I have gotten sick of the claims of non stick cookware, then it flakes after awhile.

Plus the cast iron is better for you health wise too.

We have this set and it is very well made. I buy our cook ware for home from restaurant supply places because it is cheaper, better made and performs better than anything sold in even the high end kitchen stores. When I saw this set I was impressed. It is very heavy and well made. When I picked this set up I knew it was going to work just by the weight, and so far I am very happy. Don't expect to fry eggs int the fry pan, it's stainless steel after all. But you can simmer a stew in the pot all day due to the heavy bottom. All of the pots have a very heavy bottom and thick sides. The clip on handle is a trick to learn but works very well once you figure it out.

We have a set of Cuisinart nesting cookware. A little pricey perhaps, but very high quality cookware.
I just got a set of these delivered from Amazon for $90, from Gourmet Kitchen Gallery in NJ.
This really is a top-shelf set. My wife picked up a pot, stared at it (jaw open), and said simply, "wow".
Two pots, two pans, two lids, two handles. :chef:

This set from Magma was my runner-up, btw. Magma makes some good boat stuff.

We bought the Bugaboo Camper set, from REI. It runs $99, and is a very complete set....2 saucepans, lids, 1 frying pan, 4 bowls, 4 cups, 4 plates, a strainer, etc.

This is the set we had to replace. The real-world use of this set over the course of about 5,000 miles in the trailer had the non-stick crud wearing off. The wife read about the health risks associated with nonstick surfaces and retired it.

Glad to see you were able to find a set. Hope you enjoy cooking with them.

Pretty sure they were discontinued, but perhaps Cuisinart has brought them back.

We continue to use and enjoy our set that we've had in the trailer for almost 2 years now.

I used the set for the first time last weekend at the SAE; it's great. I can't get over the quality and feel of it for $90! The handles are almost voluptuous in their tactile feedback; the pans themselves are as beautiful as they are functional.
I like the size of the big pot for making my almost-famous one-pot venison (or elk) chile.

5 stars; get them while you can. I'm pretty sure they're still out-of-production.

I have the Magma set (in 10pc) and I'm almost tempted to move it into the house and use it for my home stuff. Amazing quality and the finish is excellent.

I think I paid $140 for my Magma set online at iMarine...looks like you can get the 7 piece set for $105 now...

I too was looking for the Cuisinart set, but when I couldn't find it, the Magma set became a great alternative :)

The Magma has two subtle advantages for our crowd: it's a little smaller/compact and it has that bungee wrap thing to keep it bundled.

The Cuisinart comes with two handles though and a bag...

Can't go wrong either way. It's good to have options.

Another vote for the Cuisinart stacking set; I bought mine from Chef's Resource (excellent customer service, BTW-the guy taking my order took one off the shelf, called me back and described it in detail) a year and a half ago. I'd like to buy another for my house, but don't really need it.
