Well it has been a long time so an update is needed. The 1835 Actros got as far as finishing the torsion subfame. When the NZ defence decided to Auction off some of there unimog 1700L's which i just could not pass up on and ended up getting one which has now become the new build. Urrggggg thinking of the hrs and hrs of work that went into the actros just to put a holt on it and start from scratch on a unimog seems ludacrus but there you go

Diffrences between the mog and actros.
1. i loose 2 meters of habitat space 😪
2. It is slow and noisy (80kph v 100+)
3. It is much older 1982 v 2001.
4. Underpowered.
5 fuel tank is very small140ltrs v 500
6 I LOVE it
7 better ground clearence
8 much lighter
can fix anything with a tool kit no computer needed.
9 any of the downs above can be fixed- upgraded or improved
10. Did i mention i Love it.
11 much more nimble and easier to get around tighter areas then the actros.
12. Its a UNIMOG
13 mog is better on fuel economy believe it or not .
14. LOVE it 😁

. . I will be doing a wee catch up post soon on the unimog on a new thread.

Did you get the trailer with it? Maybe two mogs? What kind of swivel subframe is under the bed? Any PTO?
Looking very nice.

I am sure the experience you gained with the actros is going to pay of with the second build, and no reason to stop there, maybe keep the actros and do that later.

Would be kind of cool to make a driven trailer , could become an articulated 6x6, not pto but hydraulic?
Ah well, I like dreaming.

Yes the trailer came with it and the 2nd mog also.
Both came with 4 point torsion subframe . The trailer is an air braked trailer but no torsion frame on that. And both mogs came with the standard nz defence PTO.
