I know I, personally, would prefer lockable storage. I almost bought a can-back years ago for my ranger, but couldn't stand the idea of leaving gear back there when I'm not with the truck.

I'm with you, but the gear will be stored locked under the sleeping platform or in the cab if need be. Daily use will never require locking anything I cant keep in the cab or my office.

RocKrawler any up dates or pics.

Not yet, but soon. The last couple months have been hectic - traded a car last year & we agreed (it writing in the contract) that we would each smog/register the traded vehicles ourselves because they were as-is. I lived up to my end of the bargain, he ran the car into the ground while the registration was still current, then at the end of the year when it was about to expire the check engine light came on & he had faulted both knock sensors (from not running the required premium gas in that vehicle) and a coil went out. He decided to sue me and despite the contract where he signed agreeing he would handle all smog related repairs and won $3100 ( and the knock sensors are not even emission control devices, not required to pass smog) so we are going to appeals hearing this coming Friday. Then to top it off my Father passed away 2 weeks ago today.
I'm actually heading down to my storage place in a few minutes to see if I can dig out my R&M Hot Water Shower & get that installed - its been on my to do list for a few years & few vehicles, but I know Goldmember is going to be a permanent part of the family so this is the truck that finally gets the goodies.
I have a new idea for the bed storage/sleeping area that I've never seen done before, still working the plans on paper to get everything right, but to me it looks to be the most versatile and practical setup I could hope for and be customized for my needs but easily adaptable for others to personalize. If it comes out clean I hope to make & sell it as a kit eventually.

Well time to update - I won the appeal but the guy & his wife are saying its not over & they aren't going away that easy, my lawyer is sending a cease & desist letter Monday, we'll see if that works.
As for the truck, I did an oil & filter change yesterday, and went to my storage to pick up some stuff I havent installed yet. Since the guy I had a deal with to trade my ARB 45 fridge for a Norcold 60 disappeared, I decided to do some measurements - to my surprise the ARB fits perfectly between the factory bucket seats and provides a taller armrest and great location for access.
Last week I pulled out the bed liner so I could get some better internal measurements and develop a plan for the bed storage. The bed liner is for sale by the way, but if anyone on EXPO wants it they can have it free - just PM me & come & get it - I've had some great deals and free stuff on here and want to pass it along.
I found a dirt cheap cargo rail system on E-Bay from a guy who removed the system from his new Titan, $50 for the 6 channels and 4 movable anchor points. I installed the front rail this morning and it was a bear, the front rail got tweaked a bit from the PO tying down bikes too tight, kinked & bent the upper top rail to the point it was within 1/16" of the cab. I used 1"x2" to tweak it back close to straight, marked, drilled & bolted the front rail on. Its a very beefy channel that added structural rigidity and pulled the bed rail straight & true. It got too hot & I decided to take a break & come in to the AC. I'm going to work on the sides next, and also have a 5gal air tank thats going to the pass side frame rail for my OBA system. Off to the hardware store!

I hear ya.... the Nikon went due to the last round of pay cuts at work, now I just got cut last week to part time for the first time in 25 years - time to dig out the old camera & snap some pics ASAP. As soon as the hours increase or a better job pops up I'll get another welder and begin on the bed setup I have planned. Didnt have time to get the air tank or R&M Hot Water Shower installed today, but since I have every Thursday in the forseeable future off I'll tackle that job then.

Well the Wildernest showed up this morning at 5:30 am outside my house. The shipper got in early & called saying "I'm outside". After transferring it from his truck to mine (not an easy task, these things are much heavier than you'd think) and strapping it down, I think it looks pretty good. Paint is in the immediate plans and getting new weatherstrip & latches is also on the short list. I'll get it bolted down later today and open it up to check the inside. Looks like we're nearly ready for that Mojave Road trip next month!
