Yes! Updates! Sorry, I have been lazy on updating. I have been on two camp trips and a couple day trips. I love the new tires. They are as quiet as street tires and perform great in the rain and off road. So far with the canopy I have paneled all the doors and the roof. I just got back from a 5 day dirt bike trip and definitely found pros and cons with the setup. Ill start with the most recent trip.

I was in eastern Oregon getting more acquainted with my wr426. I knew it was gonna be cold at night and I didnt have time to install my third battery system that I have planned so I bought a generator to use an electric blanket at night. I have been wanting a generator anyways and will be using it to charge the third battery system for the rear of the truck. So far there are two things I'm fighting, condensation and my fricken bed. First off, theres no fix for condensation but Ill be able to limit it with more insulation. I do plan of some sort of vent in the roof to help out. As for the bed, we originally used a 4 inch memory foam mattress but I was feeling the bed frame under it. So I got another 4 inch layer and it worked out much better. The problem is loading and unloading things from the under bed storage with a queen size mattress in the way. We will be making a cover for the mattress and Im hoping it will roll up and be easier to move. If not, we will make a fold in it or something. Heres a couple pics from the trip.

Next on the plans is third battery setup to run all power in the back. Also an inverter for the rear. We have more trips planned so progress will be slower and Ill try to update as much as possible. :ylsmoke:

What do you guys think?? I like it but still not sure about it yet... I need to cut the bolts down and lock it but Im going back and forth on it. There really isnt any other spot I can mount it until I build the roof rack.

Couple updates before I take off for some errands.

Made a new mattress for the rear of the truck. Now 4in thicker. Mmmmm comfy.

What material did you use for the mattress? My wife and I are trying to figure out a mattress for using in our truck, but haven't really come up with anything good.

The cover is made from duck cloth which can be found at your local fabric store. The top 4in layer is memory foam and bottom 4in layer is standard foam.

Thanks for the info on the mattress. I was thinking something with a total thickness of 4" would be good, but it sounds like you went with a total of 8" for mattress thickness? We tried using a 2" memory foam mattress topper, but found it didn't have enough depth to keep us off of the wood underneath us. Where did you get the foam materials at?

We're in North Plains, so my wife and I are in the "Portland" area.:)

I could feel the wood from just the 4" memory foam. The memory foam was given to us and I got the standard foam from Fred meyer. We will use it for the first time this weekend so I'll report back.

I was thinking about picking up some of the foam from Fred Meyer, but we were hoping to keep the foam one piece so we avoid the gap in the middle of the foam when sleeping. I'm thinking I might look into a futon mattress, but those are heavy (at least the ones I've used were).

The Hi-lifts are only useful as a jack if you have something other than stock bumpers (Or a provision) to use them with. Otherwise it's a heavy piece to cart around.

I like your shell and the door liners you made, they look great. I'm also enjoying your scenic pictures.

SChandler- You can glue the foam together pretty easily. If they separate for me I will be doing this. As far as weight goes its fairly heavy. I can move it around by myself but still kind of a pain. I plan on making straps for it to fold it in half. It will make it a lot easier to move around.

24HOURSOFNEVADA- I have worried about lifting with the hi lift. I found that I can use it on the rear hitch to change tires if needed. On the front I can get away with lifting from the front bumper lift mount. This will get me by for now but I do have bumpers and sliders planned for the future. I decided having it would be better then nothing. I dont know if you've seen the factory jack for these trucks but they dont even work on the truck in stock form. With a 3in lift the jack is no where close to touching the axle fully extended. It looks like it was meant for a vw bug.:Wow1: haha. Thanks for the complements and hopefully I will have better mounting options soon.
