Marks cover may not work because his rack supports are outside of the bed. If its not too late, you could skin the rack and just lower it down on top of the bed. Some gasket material and a lock would keep the contents dry and secure.

I'm sure it's too late to make that "adjustment". I was thinking of giving someone the measurements that included where the posts would be. I doubt it will be water tight, but I'm hoping to minimize the water and dust that would collect if I leave it open.

90% of what I will carry in the trailer will be in a water resistant container, or in the case of firewood, in a tarp itself.

I have a design in mind for a sliding top made up of 3 sections, but it is way down on the list of priorities.

Looking good!

Thank you.

As one of my friends says, "with your check book, and my ingenuity, there isn't much that can't be accomplished."

I am blessed with some very good friends with wonderful fabrication skills. Why they put up with me, well its probably the cigars....

We had a short but productive evening. I can bore you with the blow by blow, or cut to the chase.

Inspired by Box Rocket's build, made possible by Nascar, Phucket, and Klink, with a little help from my kids.

This is a dangerous slope.

The trailers multiply, slowly at first then they start breeding.

I started with a M762 20 years ago

A M101A1 joined about 15 years ago

A few years ago they started breeding.

The M101A3 with a helmet top is a great trailer.

The M116A3 is going to be a cooking trailer.

Phoenix: Excellent design and build on the rack! Very cool.
I went with a stationary rack with a 7' x 7' expanded steel deck.
My cover was made by Mytarps.com Look under Machine cover.
It is like a shoebox lid and is held tight with Bungee rope. I have had it several years and it keeps things in the tub dry.

Are you keeping the Hummer wheels or going with lighter rollers?

Nice build Keep posting pictures.
Great to see others building trailers in Pennsylvania!

Thanks for the info on the tarp.

I've been using your build threads as R&D materials for quite some time.

For now, and as you know now changes minute by minute, I'm sticking with the Hummer wheels.

The 37s give the trailer a bit of nose down when empty. The tow rig is a JKU with a 3.5 lift on 35s. I get a bit of a kick that my trailer has bigger tires than my Jeep.

I'm looking forward to finding out how this tows with the rack and the RTT. I've towed this across most of PA (Philly to Grand Canyon of PA, and back) with the original bows and tarps. I'm hoping that the added weight is negated by not have a sail (the tarp) being pulled at highway speeds. I should find this out sometime in mid September as the tent should be arriving in 10 - 14 days.

I'm also looking forward to finding out how this tows on trails. I'm not looking to take this thing over the Rubicon, but I am expecting to take this to any place I would generally camp, it needs to be more than a base camp. My intention is to run my Jeep and this trailer at VOT '15.

Anyway, back to your question, for now the 37s stay, if the trailer underperforms due to weight, they may go.

I'm already looking at how to get rid of the surge brake, add electronic brakes and a max coupler, but want to keep the tongue about the same and keep the emergency brakes.

Still chuckling to myself every time I watch the rack go up. Friday we work on making sure it stays up or down, and grinding welds. More metal flying....

Looks great. So will it take two people to lower the rack?

1 patient person and a ratchet strap can lower the rack, or two can do it fairly easily. It all depends on what is on the rack at the time.

I rarely camp or explore alone. The trailer's primary purpose is to allow me to bring what will make my family comfortable.
