Nice! I remember when you got a little too far right at the top of the rock face at Carnage! Do you still have the LJ? Going to Fall Crawl this year?

Still have it, on 35s with 3" BDS springs and Bilstein shocks. Need to regear (still at 4.10s) this winter so I can tow a camper or military-ish trailer up to the NMW next year.

Long story, but I doubt I'll ever be back at FC. That was the last one I went to. It didn't feel that bad before I hit reverse, I just stopped because I could tell the line was wrong. LOL I've never seen a picture or video of how close I was to going over backwards.

When my 2005 LJ was still setup more for expedition than wheeling I had several versions of an ome setup. With a winch and winch bumper I ran a 934 front coil spring which was a little stiff off-road bit handled well on road. The best ride and handling in the front end was achieved with a 933 front coil and a 60047 nitro sport shock. I tried bilsteins and was never happy with the digressive valving.

Rear application will vary depending on your loaded weight. The 949 coil served me well loaded with a hard top or soft top and gobi rack. I didn't like the increased stiffness when this coil was paired with the 60049 sport shock. The next valving under this would be ideal IMO. With your half cab I would consider a 942 rear coil if your aren't going to load heavy.

With these two springs a 255/75 17 was a great fit with good road manners and available in a take off from newer jeeps.

I also highly recommend a quality set of control arms for a DD. Most will say it is unnecessary. It will be $1000. It was the best improvement I have ever made to ride and handling when set up properly. Look into preload on joints and squaring axles to frame. The above spring/shock coupled with a narrow tire and 8 control arms (metal cloak, currie, savvy). Will be a more than comfortable ride that is still fully capable.

The tires it currently has are 285's so pretty much 33's. I'm considering just staying with the current tires (dont tell the wife). I do a 50 mile commute every day, I'm not sure if dropping down to 265's will really gain me much in MPG and drive-ability.
Owner of '06 LJ Currie/Savvy equipped, If MPG is a concern, driving a Jeep is like driving a BRICK into the wind period, it just doesn't make sense. I do like the setup and there seems to be some good verbiage / direction on this subject for what you are looking for
