Scott was kind enough to shoot a couple of photos at the SEMA booth, as I'm in the office this week, and not drooling all over the fun stuff!

Just in case you missed 'em, check out all the great photos of SEMA in the Fireside Chat section of Expo!

Looks like African Outback Products has added a full length roof rack, Technitop Roof Top Tent, Single fuel can carriers, and a full awning to the 100!

Can't wait until Saturday to check 'em out in person!

It's actually a good point to make. I've never been one to just follow the trend of merely bolting on everything that would make a rig simply look the part. Rather, I'm hoping to focus on some simple additions which will address the traveling I intend to do, while providing for the loads carried and an appropriate level of safety and self-sufficiency.

That being said, I see far too many times where the "build" almost seems to overshadow actually getting out and going somewhere. At this point, even stock, I wouldn't have an issue taking the 100 through any of the areas I've gone in the U.S. or Mexico.

African Outback Products have an excellent reputation for quality, and I'm looking forward to getting a chance to use these items on a daily basis, as well as on longer trips.

Does AO have a US vendor these days? I thought that slee was the only place to get their gear, but he stopped selling their stuff awhile back.

AO is currently working on developing a new US distribution network, including retail vendors. I'll definitely post up when I have any ordering information.

Just found out that African Outback products will be available in February 2011 from Sierra Expeditions.

X2! That's pretty much what's happening to my build now. Also the fact that there are no trails I consider "expo-worthy" in IL. Although I guess driving through road construction to get to Wally-World is sort of an expedition in itself.

The 100 is back from SEMA!

Let's start with the African Outback Products awning. When Adolf, the owner of African Outback Products, showed it to me the first time, all I could say was, "wow!" I've used other awnings, including Hannibal and ARB, but I have to say this one takes all the good design elements and puts them into one, very easy to set up and take down, package.

Coverage, as you can see, is almost the full side and rear of the rig. Just unzip the case, allow the fabric to unroll, then walk the struts around; attaching the main tension strap to the roofrack and using the cam buckle to tighten it. Lift up the center support, and you're done!

No more searching in Baja for that abandoned palapa...it's on the truck!

While the entire unit is self supporting, in the event of a windy day, stout eye bolts are placed on the end of each strut for guy lines. Also notice the zipper on the bottom: a full enclosure is available.

Mounting to the rack is in three points, with a specific brace for the hinge/weight bearing end. Needless to say, with the strength of the rack itself, this is very, very sturdy.

Next up...the African Outback Products Roofrack, Fuel Can carriers, Hi-Lift Jack Mount and newly redesigned Technitop Roof Top Tent!
