Project: Waltzing Matilda

Thanks amigo, it's been a hassle for sure.

You know I've been a manual tranny guy since way-back, but was glad to have the auto in the Mall Crawler when I broke my foot.

I really like the different look of that bumper on the G.M. truck, nice plan.

Once I was cleared to drive, it was the hundy. It's just easier all the way around, entry, exit, auto etc. It did make me think about the benefits of an auto vs. manual. If you get twisted up on a trip the auto certainly makes it easier to get home.

I really like the look of that bumper, like what your doing with the truck.

The foot injury reminds me of the quote in my sig...

I claim to be a manual transmission guy, but I haven't purchased a stick shift in years, and don't see one in my immediate future.

It's not easy, as there are less available all the time.

Mr. 24HRS searched a long time to find his example.

And unfortunately Ford and GM no longer even offers a manual as an option, auto only. Dodge is the only one still putting a manual in the full size trucks :(

Yep I know, it sucks. My new Tundra too, A/T only :(

This modern reality has been helping me entertain keeping my old F350 5-speed (forever?), lest I forget how to drive a real truck transmission.

I really like the rear bumber ideas. The folding table is way practicle. Bummer on the whole ankle thing. You've been sorely missed.
Chas

Glad to see you are still alive, I called a couple of weeks ago and left a message, but never heard back from you. Sorry to hear about the ankle. Hopefully is it healing up.

Really sorry to hear that your Baja trip got cancelled, that really sucks.

Jack

Hey 24, I don't know if you are still interestd in Hanson bumpers for the front their facebook page says the Super Duty bumpers are available but I don't see anything on the web page. The facebook page name for Super Duties is Hanson Heavy Duty.

That's great timing on your part. I called Hanson last week to find out their progress on their HD line. They said they just finished one and to look for a write up in an upcoming "8 Lug" diesel magazine. I spoke with a guy in their sales department and he was still unable to quote a delivery or even a ball park on a price. He said to watch their website for updates. I asked if he knew if they would be released by June because that's our departure date for the Alaska trip and he wasn't sure about that either. I'm not on FB, so I didn't know they updated it. That's promising.

Hanson bumpers has partially updated their website on front bumpers. Prices start at $1799.00 for a non winch model and end at $2399.99 for a winch model with tube work. They still only have one image on the site, with no release dates.

Thanks Chas, I'm still playing with the idea of my own. As far as the "Wheel," the highlight of my day consisted of mounting a backpacking headlamp to my walker. It's an attempt to not wake up J- if I get up during the night. Yep, a walker. Surgery is awesome, don't believe anyone that says differently.
