My plan is to pick up a civi passenger side fuel tank from LMC.
To get your mind off the hubs for a minute let’s talk fuel tanks….. Don’t bother going the the LMC tank route. There are much better options out there besides LMC. The LMC tank is, by no surprise, a cheap Taiwanese piece of tin bent around to resemble a fuel tank with only a mere sprinkle of a rust inhibiting spray over them. Order a fuel tank from Napa, they are really nice galvanized tanks made in Canada by Spectra. By the time you figure in LMC’s freight charges you will probably find the Napa tank is the same cost for a higher quality fuel tank. It looks like the Napa part number for a 20 gallon tank is STP GM1B and new tank straps are part number STP FG05K
I have a LMC tank on the LH side of my K10 and just added a new Napa tank on the RH side. WOW! The difference between the two in material quality and metal thickness was astounding. I am actually replacing the 5 year old LMC tank on the LH side with a new Napa tank this week as well just because I was so impressed with the Napa tank I just put in the RH side.
This is a LMC tank as I was installing it during the 8.1L swap in 2008. It is paper thin and only has a paint type material sprayed on it for corrosion protection
This is a terrible picture of the high quality Spectra tank from Napa I just installed on the RH side. Nicely galvanized made by our good neighbors to the North. Those canuk tanks are nice, eh!
Sorry to hear about the Yukon hubs. I’ve had nothing but great luck with ORD and Randy’s Ring and Pinion. I am sure they will get it figured out. I’ve also had great luck with the Superwinch D44 hubs on my K10 in the past as well as the Superwinch D60 hubs that are on it now but I don’t believe Superwinch offers them in 35 spline. Mine are only 30 spline.
