Pronghorn new bumper for JK

It doesn't do anything for me, that's for sure. If you're looking for light weight steel, the LoD Armor Lite mid width is 10 lbs under that setup, and is just over a 1/3 of the cost.

I like the "Fresh look" and glad someone is trying to do something different but I'll keep my ARB STUBBY bumper for just over $500.00

Seams like to be different you just need to charge a lot for a product... I like the innovation but that bumper should start around $500.00 then go up a small amount when different options are added....

Just my 2 cents...

Metalcloak already does a modular jeep bumper and it is no where near $1400. In fact, it's right around half that. $1400 is just too much money for a front bumper.

I am in the metals area, and believe me, $500 is not enough to buy the aluminum they use, and their cutting and welding procedures and finishing are VERY VERY expensive, while a ARB or AEV uses $50 of steel and you pay the lack of innovation! And I can give value to a fine welding and finishing and this bumper is superb in that fiel, but only for someone looking at it closely. Note: Don´t look so closely on a steel bumper of those available in the market, you can find too many imperfections!

Plus, if you add shipping price for the ARB and AEV and others you will pay more as this is lighter, and plus, this one you can assemble yourself alone without special tools or skills. many things to add to other steel bumpers costs.

Of course there are many opinions and nobody gives the same value to things! They are again referred on ExPo front page as one of the 5 better products at the overland expo. So I believe it is much better live than in pictures.

I'll agree to disagree.... I looked at my ARB before I installed and found no flaws and installed it myself with out any SPECIAL tools. Sorry you feel that an ARB bumper lacks innovation, I feel many people around the world would disagree with you. Also there are many aftermarket retailers that have in stock or can get the bumpers with out any extra freight. Not sure what OTHER items I would need to add to my ARB STUBBY other than a winch & a set of lights. It is a bumper with style tha "I" like, it holds a winch of my choice, it holds lights of my choice & it has Hi-lift Jack lift mounts.
As I stated, I like the fresh look and different approach but just hope they don't price themselves out of the market.

Once again.... Just my 2cents....

Yeah it may have "innovation" that maybe other bumpers "lack" but they all have the same functionality and cost no where as much as this new bumper. Plus the set up with the winch and adding lights looks like a cluster. It looks like you can only run one or the other.

Totally agree, plus the idea of putting winch weight even further out over the front end seems unwise. I saw it in person at the expo, it was nice but I wasn't blown away by it. I have a full width ARB and the quality of the build of it is excellent and well thought out in terms of winches, lights, etc. Is it heavier? Yes it is, but not overly so. I can't imagine the joy of pulling my winch on and off on a trip in order to use my off-road lights. To each their own, but there are other lightweight options out there, that are less expensive and better executed. Just my 2 cents of course.

Some sort of lost...
To each his own but I agree with the last couple posts. It looks like an over priced erector set bumper. No way am I reconfiguring a bumper every weekend because I want lights this weekend and a winch next. The side pieces of the bumper seem to sit as low as the stock one did is well. The "full" setup is said to weight 88lbs for 3/16" aluminum. Must be all those bolts making up the weight! Lol

Expedition one (as well as many other companies) sells nicer looking, very functional bumpers for less. 3/16" steel full width at around 100lbs, recovery points, winch mount, hi-lift jack points, factory fog mounts, I got mine for $1200 to my door with a hoop and powder coating. Not held together with a ton of bolts. Not to mention they will be releasing it in aluminum soon and I'm sure it will weigh less than the pronghorn bumper fully setup.

each one has it´s own taste! no question about that!

Just one note, on this bumper you can have the external winch (like in the pictures) or have it mounted on top of the bumper (they haven´t presented this option at the Expo but the top of the bumper is prepared and reinforced for it) and lights on the uprights, as many options as you wish.

I am not saying a ARB is bad, I just don´t like, like some of you don´t like this one. Not all of us give the same value to quality of finishing and materials or inovation and exclusivity, a Maybach is much more expensive than a Mercedes or a Lexus than a Toyota.

Sorry but that last line sounds extremely pompous!

I appreciate you don't like the ARB, we all agree to each their own, but other than the attachment(s) method of accessories, what's so innovative? A winch that can sit on top of the bumper where it can block the radiator? That it's modular, which has already done by Rugged Ridge? That it's made from Aluminum, also done by several others?

It's interesting, but comparing it to a Maybach is way over the top. I'd also be curious to see how it performs in an impact as compared to an ARB, AEV, Expedition One, or other similarly crafted bumpers. I'm not interested in a piece of art when I am out on the trail, despite the fact that the aforementioned bumpers do tie in very nicely with the lines of the JK. I want something that works well and is not a novelty to be admired or fidgeted with every time I want to use an accessory.

If they market it with a "Maybach" type of arrogance, I doubt they will get very far, but as with all new vendors I wish them well, competition only brings better products to market.
