I actually got interested in using UAV's for filming truck adventures and other outdoor activities about 3 years ago, and kinda fell down a rabbit hole. I have become a lead developer on Arducopter which is the open source alternative to DJI (=Apple). My main focus is on conventional helicopters, but also use some multirotors. I've developed a few different systems, but have yet to actually use one to film any truck stuff. Only so many hours in a day and I still have to work this in between my day-job and family.
Video of my mid-size mapping heli. Weighs 3.2kg, only about 80cm long, can fly for 20 minutes, and map about 1 sq. km per mission at 2.5cm/pixel resolution. Ground station complete with the Expo-requisite black Pelican cases.
And here is a larger electric helicopter carrying a Sony Nex5N. About 8kg, 20 minute flight time, 2 video feeds, one for pilot, one for camera operator.
I'll actually be out in Colorado next week for an autonomous vehicle competition. Sadly, don't have any time to see the sights down there.

I'm also working on a contract for a company in Spain for a very large (40kg) gasoline powered helicopter, will be travelling out there later in the summer. Currently building a test-bed for this project, a 5-foot long gas powered machine.
