Quick question for you 4Runner guys...

There is No Such Thing.....as a Brand new 3.0V6 in 2009/10. Impossible!

When my new Rebuilt 3.0V6 finally dies (and it only has 3,000 miles on it...and you have no idea how much I have already spent on it to keep it running!). I'm cramming a diesel in my truck! I've had it with the 3.0V6.....!

If I were you. I would hold out for a 1996+ with the 3.4V6. Or get a 2.4 or 2.7.....4 cyl.

I'm speaking from experience.

Do not listen at your own peril!

.

Ahh, I see what you mean. Good advice, thanks!

I bought a brand new 22R short block in a crate from Toyota in 2007 and missed long block availability by a year or two. It's possible (although unlikely) a brand new 3VZ long block could have been sourced. The more possible answer is that it was a newly rebuilt 3VZ.

I dont think it was swapped in in 09/10 though.

By how dirty the engine compartment was the engine must have been in there for a couple years at least.

Dont?

According to the current owner its not a rebuild, its a brand new engine.

New long block (block with heads installed) may not come with new parts like idler pulley for the timing belts.

Idler pulley for one of the accessories on mine had a bearing go bad. $14 to fix.

I appreciate all the advice guys.

I decided against getting it...I need to be working on the Scout anyway. It will be a good daily driver when I'm done. Not to mention the 04 Pathfinder that I recently bought for the fiancee...I need to just work on what Ive got now.
