Hey guys im getting ready to order a new head unit of my 03 limited so I thought I would get a jump start and pull the old one out to see whats involved before ordering. I noticed that the antenna has 2 cables instead of 1 like in most vehicles, im assuming one is to power the mast and the other is for signal. Heres a pic

the aftermarket harness doesnt show a spliter for the atenna so im not sure if I need another harness to make this thing work or not. Heres a pic of the harness

It the metra 70-7003

Also is this the only harness I need for the intall, does the amp power all the speakers etc...

Actually there are two different antennas, I only hooked up the front when I was installing mine. I used the wiring harness you have pictured above. If you have the "Infinity System" make sure your replacement deck has the same number of preamp outputs. My 98' needed a deck w/2 sets versus the normal one.
Hope that helps

im pretty sure im gonna go with the jvc, but the pioneer keeps catching my eye and luckly the previous owner did all the hard work of switching the climate control underneath so I wont have to fool with it

I ended up ordering the jvc. It should be here hopefully by next Saturday but because of the holiday it might be here monday. I will post back on my semi-build thread. Thanks for the help bikerjosh!

To answer your question the second antenna is in the rear window, I think. Didn't notice a difference w/without it. I added a inline switch for the antenna so I could keep it down while offroad and still have the radio on.

Nice, my atenna is broken so im gonna have to replace the mast, although I thought about mounting a fixed antenna and just un plugging the power antenna at the motor but im sure if that will mess other things up.

My rig suffered from a broken mast as well. I replaced it with the same, but also installed a switch to control when it's up or down.

Installing a fixed mast and unplugging the power source to the motor is not a problem.

So when you were looking in there, how hard did it look to move the climate control down below? I'm thinking i might do that sometime soon. I believe the auto climate control is just electrical connections, yea?

Inyo, im definitely look into doing a fixed antenna, I think now the only issue would be removing the actual power antenna from the fender and attaching the fixed in its place im not sure if the hole in the fender will be too big or small, just something i'd have to figure out when actually swapping it out.

Mascot, i think it would be very easy to switch the climate controls, lucky for me it had already been done but I did sneak a peek at what it looked like and theres just 4 screws and 2 brackets identical to the factory stereo, also theres no divider between the units its pretty much just one big hole when you open it up
