I believe market research shows that buyers aren't really interested, 30 years ago people wanted shorter wheel bases, but current market buyers want more room, the limited number of buyers for modern ramcharger/trail duster are probably not enough to entice the automakers.
I have heard of some folks complaining about the weight of using the 3.6 but some of the articles have stated it’s the cheapest motor they make and it bolts right in so it was the cheapest and quickest option development wise.
