Recovery Gear Storage

I've divided my shackles, snatch blocks, and <10' straps between 2 canvas bags with the across-the-top zippers, common for 4x4 storage. I had to do this because all the hardware together became too heavy. For most oprns, I'll get by w 1 bag.

I also have a 1" x 30' kinetic snatch rope and a 30' pull strap. These are large-space items. What have ya'll done to put these big recovery things away and in what kind of bag?

I haven't carried a tow strap since converting to the Master Pull superyanker kinetic rope. I stash mine under the passenger front seat. My winch controller, snatch block, extra d ring and tree saver reside under the driver seat. This all might not be Expedition Portal approved but they are easy to get to quickly without disrupting passengers or the gear in the back. My shovel and hi lift along with my tools are in the cargo area but for the quick extraction or to assist others I have been very happy less hassle for the basics. They have never moved around although I would like to secure the heavier snatch block and d ring for safety. Someday my hi lift and shovel will be mounted to the tire carrier for easy access as well.

I bought a set of these for my JK and have been really happy with them. (Dirt Bagz) On one side I have my misc tools in ATC tool pouches and on the other I have my shackles and a tow strap along with a few other odds and ends. I do still stow some of my straps in the cubby under the rear deck. I don't like things bouncing around, and I want to have dedicated places for my gear, without many options for this in a stock JK I am pleased with the bags.

In past rigs, I've carried everything including the kitchen sink. Either in a big plastic bin, or in a Greenly work box. What a PITA! Tree saver tangled with snatch rope, greasy chain getting everything nasty. "How many Bow-Rings do I have?..." Just not very efficient.
This time, I've pared down to the base essentials in two bags, like you did. For the snatch bag, I'm carrying the one that came with the Jeep. For the winch bag, I'm carrying a Warn kit, and a Warn rope weight. Just added a couple of extra Bow-Rings to the snatch kit and a 30' flat tow strap.
Probably have to "McGiver" things more this way, but frankly, I don't want to wheel that way anymore, so hopefully will use it much less. I am carrying a Hi-Lift, and willing to dig and stack if needed to keep things to a minimum.
Probably curse myself up and down a blue streak, the first time I get "really" stuck. But then, maybe I shouldn't have been there in the first place... lol

A two bag system seems to be the way to go. I keep my straps and rope separate from my shackles and blocks. Also, I wrap my straps so that they are actually folded and held closed with a couple loops of electrical tape to keep them from tangling up. If I need them, I just break the tape and unroll. I guess bands from bicycle tire tube would work too, but I don't have a bicycle.

Now, I do keep a kinetic statch strap in a side pocket in the back of my bronco. When I go wheeling, I leave the back window down so its easy to access and yank out when needed.

I'd have said... "not the bags, just the snatch block"... lol
pretty cool stuff. This is the same guys who made your seat back molle gear?

I'm a cheap SOB. I use a couple of the reusable grocery store bags. They don't have a zipper. but hold my gear just fine.

Springtail Solutions Molle JK Rack

Springtail Solutions has a couple of useful items www.springtailsolutions.com I found the JK Mpak Tailgate Rack to work really well (see photos below) I have an entire tool kit, both deep sockets and box wrenches for all major Standard and Metric sizes with rachets, extensions, Hex Set, Screw drivers, Plyers, Side Cutters and tapes in the large bag on the right. The small bag on the left has my winch controller and air hose and then I put the strap in a quick fist. You could easily arrange things differently. It is a very strong product and installs in about 20 minutes using factory locations. It was a no brainer!!

I cheap too, I got mine free somewhere. Mine is about the same size and shape, just a camo pattern. I do have my D rings and pulley in the black back pack below it below it. It is a wore out old back pack missing part of a strap.
